Please tell me where to work

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me to find a full time job I’m very skilled retired teacher that wants to continue to teach in private schools. Does my Heavenly Father want me to be in teaching if not where does he want me to be.###

We hear your heart, dear sister or brother in Christ, and we lift you up before the Lord with great compassion. Your desire to continue teaching, especially in a private school setting, reflects a noble calling, one that shapes minds and hearts for God’s glory. The Scriptures remind us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23 WEB). Teaching is indeed a high and holy vocation, and your skills and experience are a gift to be stewarded wisely.

First, let us address the foundation of your request. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His grace alone that we find wisdom, provision, and direction. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6 WEB). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Him, trusting in His sacrifice for your salvation and seeking His will above all else. If you have already placed your faith in Christ, we rejoice with you and stand with you in seeking His guidance.

Now, regarding your question about whether the Lord wants you to continue in teaching or redirect your path, we must seek His will through prayer, Scripture, and godly counsel. The Bible tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). Teaching is a field where you can shine the light of Christ, but we must also be open to the Lord’s leading if He has another assignment for you. Have you asked Him to open doors that no one can shut and close doors that are not His will for you? "Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you" (Matthew 7:7 WEB).

We also encourage you to consider whether the private school environment aligns with your values and faith. Private Christian schools, in particular, can be a wonderful place to disciple young hearts for Christ. If you have not already, we suggest reaching out to Christian schools in your area, networking with fellow believers in education, and even volunteering or substituting to explore opportunities. "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16 WEB).

If the Lord does not open a door in teaching, remember that your skills are transferable to many other fields. Perhaps He is calling you to mentor younger teachers, write curriculum, or serve in another capacity that utilizes your gifts. The key is to remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading and not grow weary in seeking His will. "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this" (Psalm 37:5 WEB).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our dear brother or sister to You, asking for Your divine guidance and provision in their search for a full-time job. Lord, You know the desires of their heart, and You have given them a gift for teaching. We ask that You open the right doors for them, doors that align with Your will and allow them to use their skills for Your glory. If teaching is not Your plan for them, we pray that You would redirect their steps and reveal the path You have prepared.

Father, we ask that You would provide clarity and peace as they seek You. Remove any anxiety or doubt, and replace it with trust in Your perfect timing. Surround them with godly counsel and opportunities that reflect Your goodness. Lord, we also pray for financial provision during this season of transition. You are Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider, and we trust that You will meet every need according to Your riches in glory.

Holy Spirit, we ask that You would fill them with wisdom and discernment as they make decisions. Help them to walk in obedience to Your leading, even when the path is unclear. We rebuke any spirit of fear or discouragement that may try to hinder their faith, and we declare that they are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.

Lord, we thank You for hearing our prayer. We trust that You are working all things together for their good, and we stand in faith, believing that You will lead them to the perfect place of service. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily, asking Him to reveal His will and to give you peace in the waiting. Remember, "Those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing" (Psalm 34:10 WEB). Keep your heart open to His leading, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9 WEB). May the Lord bless you abundantly as you trust in Him.

We understand the weight of a question like that, especially when you've spent years pouring yourself into a craft you love. It's natural to wonder if the desire to keep teaching is from the Lord or if He's quietly closing a door. Sometimes the question "is this God's will?" can feel so big that it stops us in our tracks, when a simpler question might get us moving: "What opportunity is right in front of me today?"

You clearly have skill and experience that a private school would value. We'd suggest taking a practical step this week and seeing what comes of it. Are there three private schools in your area you haven't contacted yet? It might be worth reaching out, even if they aren't advertising a position. A conversation with an administrator could clarify whether the door is open. Pay attention not just to whether a job materializes, but to the sense of life or deadness you feel as you pursue it. God often guides us as we step forward in faith, not before we move.

At the same time, your willingness to ask where else He might want you is a gift. Keep holding that question with open hands. Your identity as a teacher is real, but it rests inside the deeper truth that you are His child, with or without a classroom.

Lord, you see this desire to serve and these years of honed skill. We ask you to make the path plain. If teaching in a private school is the next assignment, would you personally open that door and give clear favor? If you have something different in mind, would you spark new curiosity and make the next step unmistakable? While we wait, guard this season from discouragement, and let your presence be the steady anchor, whatever comes next. We ask in Jesus' name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have yet to speak on God’s behalf. A lifetime in the classroom has not exhausted that sacred privilege; the grey head and the seasoned skill only fit you the more to declare His truth among the young. You ask after your calling as though the path were hidden, but consider: the teaching gift was never meant to gather dust while the heart still burns. The question is not merely where you should work, but how your work may best lift up Christ.

If doors open in private schools, walk through them, not as a mere pedagogue, but as one who knows that every lesson is an opportunity to show the excellency of your Lord. Elihu said, “I have yet to speak on God's behalf,” and so have you. Whether in a classroom or in some other sphere, the instruments of Providence are often slow to move, but they grind with marvelous precision. He is in one mind, and none can turn Him.

Wait at the posts of His doors; He never is before His time, He never is too late. Do not think that God is uncertain. He has called you with a high calling, a heavenly calling, and He does not change His purpose like a fickle man. Perhaps the delay is His way of teaching you to lean not upon your own skill, but upon His succour.

When Job’s words failed, he took to tears and melted his way into God’s heart. So bring your confusion to the throne, and trust that He will comfort you in His own good season. If the classroom door remains shut for a time, it may be that He is bidding you speak in another arena, pleading with sinners, setting forth His claims, or using your masterful tongue to build up the saints. Only let your heart be ready, your spirit watchful.

The Word of God is your lamp; search it, and your eyes shall not fail. You shall yet see that your labor is not in vain, for as the Lord lives, He cannot leave His people without comfort. Lay hold upon this: your calling proves His election, and His election teaches that He ordained to use you. So, go forward.

Whether you teach or take up some new yoke for Christ’s sake, do it all as unto Him. Learn of Him, for He is meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest unto your soul.

Heavenly Father, we ask that You open the right door for ###—whether in teaching or elsewhere—and guide every step. Grant clarity where there is uncertainty, and lead him/her to the place where his/her skills and experience will best serve Your purposes. We trust that You will make the path straight

- *Proverbs 3:5-6* – "Trust in the Lord with all your heart... and He will make your paths straight."
- *Colossians 3:23* – "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord."
- *Psalm 37:4* – "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."
