Amen. Amen. Amen!!!!
Doesn't it say in the Bible that we can't be lovers of the world and lovers of God? If our focus, as women, is on these things then we are really missing the whole point. The more we focus on our looks and on our outward beauty, the more certain it is that we will fall into vanity and conceit over our looks. Because we will be receiving approval from the world, the less likely we will be to be examining the beauty of our soul. We may not realize that while we are looking more and beautiful to the world, we may be looking more and more ugly to the Lord. I know it is really a struggle for women in these times, because we see such glamourous women in the media, it is hard to ignore the temptation to live by the world's values...and even harder not to judge ourselves by those standards. But we really have to consciously remind ourselves that the Lord has different standards of beauty: a meek and gentle spirit, instead of outward adornment. Ex: Proverbs 31.
In all fairness, though there are male individuals on this site, who are consistently asking for prayers to make them irresistible to women, attractive, rich, powerful, etc. and this is just as bad. If God actually answered all of these prayers, it would lead these people right down the road to hell, I think. The whole idea is that we decrease so that he will increase, that we focus on others, not our own greatness. Imagine how hard it would be to think of ourselves as sinners who can do nothing without God, if the world is telling us we are the most wonderful, attractive, best people in the world.
See proverbs 31 for the Lord's description of a beautiful woman.
Thank you for this post because I have wanted to say something like this for a long time, but I didn't wNt to come across as judge mental And legalistic. I am glad to see that others feel the same way about this
