Thorn in the Flesh
God uses our struggles to keep us humble and show His strength through our weakness.
What It Is to Be in Christ
Being in Christ means freedom from condemnation and a life transformed by His presence and power.
Duties of Husbands to Wives
A husband must honor his marriage vows by cherishing his wife as his sacred duty and lifelong joy.
We join with you in lifting up your beloved wife before the throne of grace and we thank God for your faithful love for her and for the sacred bond of marriage that you honor so tenderly. It is a beautiful thing to see a husband intercede so earnestly for his wife and we count it a privilege to stand with you in prayer.

We notice your request asks for prayers but does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and there is also the promise that There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus shed His blood for us and rose again that we can boldly bring every need, every fear, and every hope directly to God, trusting that He hears us. We pray together in His matchless name.

We bring your wife's procedure on November third before the Lord. We ask our Great Physician to guide the surgeon's hands and to grant wisdom, steadiness, and clarity to the entire medical team as they remove the bile duct stent and attempt again to retrieve that remaining gall stone that could not be removed in June. We pray that the stone would be removed completely and safely, that there would be no complications, no infection, and no pain beyond what is necessary, and that her body would heal quickly and fully just as her other procedures have gone well. We trust that God is sovereign even over these delicate details.

We also lift up the pain in her back and sciatic nerve and ask the Lord to calm that inflammation and to take away that sharp, lingering pain. We pray for her kidneys and we rejoice with you that her numbers have moved from ### to ###. We know it may seem small to others, but we see it as a merciful answer to prayer and a sign that God is hearing. We continue to ask that those numbers would continue to rise little by little, that her kidney function would be sustained and strengthened, and that her whole body would know renewed strength. We remember the promise that Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. Psalm 103:2-3 and also But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Jeremiah 30:17.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son and we lift this precious wife and daughter to You. We thank You for sustaining her through previous procedures and for the improvement in her kidney numbers. We ask You to be present in the operating room on November third, to guide every hand and every instrument, to allow the stent to be removed without difficulty and to make it possible for the last gall stone to be taken out cleanly. We ask You to touch her back and sciatic nerve, to relieve the pressure and pain, and to grant her restful sleep and comfort. We ask You to continue to lift her kidney function and to grant her peace and courage in the days ahead. We ask You to comfort her husband as he watches and waits, to guard his heart from fear and to fill you both with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We encourage you to keep casting every care upon Him, for He cares for you. Continue to walk closely with her medical team, to follow their counsel, and to rest in the assurance that God is with you both. Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. We will keep praying that her healing continues, that her pain diminishes, and that her kidney numbers keep moving upward for Your glory. We trust the Lord's perfect will and perfect timing and we thank Him for His steadfast love toward you both in Jesus' name.

We have been holding your request for your wife close in prayer, and we hear how much you love her and how long you have been carrying this worry with her.

Thank you for sharing the good news that her kidney numbers moved from 15 to 16. We know that is a small change on paper, but when you have been watching those numbers so closely and praying so faithfully, any movement in the right direction feels significant. We are thankful with you and we continue to pray that her care team will have wisdom as they track those labs.

With the procedure on November 3 approaching, it is understandable to feel both hopeful and anxious. It can help to write down any questions you have for the surgeon ahead of time about the stent and the remaining stone, and to keep a simple note of her pain and how she is feeling day to day to share with her doctors. For the sciatic pain in her back, please keep her medical team involved alongside prayer so they can guide her care.

We are praying for you both in this waiting time, for rest when you can get it and for steady support around you.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift this wife and her husband to You. We ask for Your hand over the surgeon on November 3, for safety in removing the stent and the last stone, for relief from the pain in her back, and for continued care for her kidneys. Give them peace, wisdom for their doctors, and strength for each day ahead. Amen.

Your request has been heard and we have carried it before the Lord with thanksgiving and supplication. We join you in praying for your dear wife as she approaches the procedure on the third of November for the removal of the bile duct stent.

We pray that the Lord, who is the great Physician, will guide the surgeon's hands and grant wisdom and steadiness, that what could not be done in June may now be accomplished according to His mercy, and that the remaining gall stone may be removed without complication. We ask that He will grant her a safe procedure and a peaceful recovery, as He has done in her other procedures, for every good gift comes from His hand.

We also bring before Him the pain of her sciatic nerve and the distress of her back, asking that He would be pleased to calm that pain and grant her rest. We remember too her kidney numbers with gratitude. We thank God with you that they have moved from 15 to 16, and we do not despise this small mercy, for even the least leaf of the tree of life is for healing. We pray that in His compassion He would cause those numbers to rise a little further, and that He would sustain her strength day by day.

We are reminded that our Lord said, Only trust Him, only trust Him. Do not trust your feelings or your fears, but trust Christ Himself, who bore our sicknesses and carries our sorrows. As you wait through these calamities, may your soul make its refuge in the shadow of His wings until they pass. He who healed the sick with a word is able still to heal, to forgive, and to keep all who trust Him, and they that trust in Him shall not be confounded.

Let us pray together. O merciful God, be merciful unto our sister for her soul trusts in You. Look upon her in her weakness and let Your healing virtue rest upon her. Grant skill to those who care for her, ease to her pain, and increase of strength to her body. Above all, let her and her husband know the pardoning and healing grace that is in Christ Jesus, and keep them in perfect peace as they trust in You. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. Amen.
