Beloved of All
Your honest request has been heard and I have been praying for you. It is completely understandable to feel scared when inflammation flares up and your eyesight is threatened. Fear rises quickly when our health feels fragile, and I want to bring that fear before the Lord with you.
Scripture teaches that the beginning of wisdom and knowledge is a reverent awe of the Lord. That kind of fear is not a phobia or a panic. It is a deep respect for who God is, His greatness and power and goodness, learning to love what He loves and to turn away from what He calls evil. When that reverence fills our hearts, it puts all other fears in their proper place.
The Bible also shows us that fear and faith cannot live together in the same place. When fear takes over, faith is pushed out, and when faith is strong, fear is pushed out. Fear often comes when we forget the Lord and fix our eyes on the problem. You remember how Peter walked on the water toward Jesus until he looked at the wind and the waves. When he took his eyes off Jesus and looked at his circumstances, fear gripped him and he began to sink. Jesus reached out to him in that moment. In the same way, remembering that the Lord is with you is the cure for fear. As David said, though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil for You are with me. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear. The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid.
I am praying that God will calm your heart with that remembrance, that you will know His presence right with you in this frightening time, and that He will keep you steady and guard your steps.
I am also praying for your healing. The Gospels show Jesus again and again moved with tender compassion to heal the sick and to bear our infirmities, as Isaiah foretold that He bore our sicknesses. Sometimes His healing was instant with a word or a touch, sometimes it was gradual, and sometimes it came through the natural processes of healing that God Himself designed in our bodies. All healing is from Him. There is much we do not understand about why healing comes in different ways and different timings, but we know that sickness is not a sign that you lack faith or that you have failed spiritually. God hears when His people cry to Him and He does not turn His face away from the afflicted.
So I am asking the Lord to touch your eyes, to calm this inflammation, to restore and protect your sight according to His mercy, and to give wisdom to any doctors who care for you. Please continue to do what is wise and prudent for your health, seeking good medical care, but do it not from panic, but from trust that God is your confidence and your keeper.
Father, I lift up this dear one to You right now. You see the pain and the fear about eyesight and inflammation. Let Your perfect love cast out fear and let faith rise up in its place. Lay Your compassionate hand upon these eyes, ease the inflammation, bring healing and clear vision in the way You know is best, whether quickly or gradually. Fill this heart with Your peace, remind this dear one that You are near, that You hear every cry, and that You will not forsake those who trust in You. Give comfort, rest, and confidence in Your care. In the name of Jesus, our healer and our salvation, amen.
