Please pray

Thank you for sharing these silent requests from your heart. God hears even the prayers that are never spoken out loud. A quick cry lifted silently in the heart is real prayer, and He knows what you need before you ask Him.

It matters who we address in prayer. Through Jesus Christ we are given the right to come to God as Father, and that relationship is what opens the way for effective prayer. If that relationship is not yet settled, the one prayer God desires to hear first is, God be merciful to me, a sinner, trusting Jesus alone for salvation. Once we are His children we can bring every unspoken burden to Him with confidence.

You do not need many words or a long prayer for it to be valid. The prayers recorded in Scripture are often very short. What matters is a sincere heart. The fervent, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person avails much, as we see in the example of Elijah, and even difficulties like those David knew can drive us to seek the Lord more earnestly. Prayer is not meant to inform God as if He did not already know, nor to try to get our own will done. Its purpose is to see His will done on earth as it is in heaven. Prayer begins with God and His purposes, He makes His will known to our hearts, we express it back to Him, and He acts. In that way prayer opens the door for God to do what He has long desired to do, without violating the will He has given us. The wisest prayer we can offer is, Lord, have Your way in my life and do Your perfect will.

Be encouraged to continue in prayer and to watch with thanksgiving. Sometimes God waits until our hearts come into harmony with His purpose, and then the answer comes. He also ministers assurance and comfort to us as we pray, even when words are few.

We join with you now in agreement, for Jesus said where two or three agree on earth concerning anything it will be done. Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up every silent request represented here. You know each need fully, each name, each circumstance that has not been spoken. We ask that Your will be accomplished in each situation and that You would work in a way that brings glory to Yourself. Grant wisdom, comfort, strength, and faith to trust You. Where there is sin to be confessed, bring conviction and cleansing. Where there is sickness or trouble, bring Your help and peace. Let Your kingdom and power be seen, and let the one who prayed know Your nearness and care. Amen.
