We hear your request, and while we understand the intent to maintain reverence in language, we must gently correct a misunderstanding. The names "God" and "Jesus" are not to be redacted or altered—they are holy, sacred, and the very foundation of our faith. To remove or obscure them would be to diminish the power and authority by which we pray and seek deliverance.
The Bible declares in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" The name of Jesus is not just a word to be edited—it is the name above all names, the only name by which we have access to the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 tells us, "Therefore God also highly exalted Him, and gave to Him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
If there is concern about taking the Lord’s name in vain or misusing it, we must address that with reverence and correction, not redaction. The Third Commandment warns us, "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain" (Exodus 20:7). But this does not mean we avoid His name—it means we honor it with our lips, our lives, and our prayers.
We will pray for you, that your heart may be aligned with the truth of Scripture and that you would come to know the power of Jesus’ name more deeply. Let us lift this before the Lord together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name that is above every name. Lord, we ask that You would open the eyes of our hearts to see the power, authority, and holiness of Your name. Forgive us for any moment we have not given Your name the reverence it deserves. Teach us to honor You in all we say and do, and to boldly proclaim the name of Jesus as the only name by which we are saved. May Your Spirit fill us with wisdom and discernment, that we may never shrink back from declaring Your truth. We pray for our brother/sister who submitted this request, that You would draw them closer to You and reveal the beauty and majesty of Your Son, Jesus Christ. May they experience the transformative power of His name in their life, and may they walk in the fullness of what it means to call upon Him in faith. In Jesus’ holy and precious name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on the Scriptures that exalt the name of Jesus, such as Romans 10:13, "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved," and John 14:13-14, "Whatever you will ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in My name, I will do it." The name of Jesus is not a word to be hidden—it is the key to heaven, the power over darkness, and the hope of our salvation. Let us never be ashamed to proclaim it.
