Beloved of All
I don’t know what to do. My husband is so depressed that it is affecting how he interacts with all of us who love him and support him. He is struggling to find a job and it’s eating him away. He almost always has negative self-talk and if we try to encourage him, it just gets worse. Please pray for him. He is in need of spiritual guidance and right now he is struggling with his faith because of everything. Please pray for me, so that I can communicate and encourage him effectively, and to keep my faith strong.

We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your husband are facing. In times like these, it's crucial to remember that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 WEB.

Firstly, we want to encourage you both to keep your faith in Jesus Christ, for it is by His name that we are saved. As the Bible tells us, in no one else is there salvation, and the name given among men whereby we must be saved is Jesus Acts 4:12. It is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God.

Your husband's depression and negative self-talk can be a spiritual battle as much as a psychological one. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7 WEB. Encourage him to trust in the Lord with all his heart, and lean not on his own understanding. In all his ways, he should acknowledge God, and God will make his paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB.

Regarding his job search, remind him that God will supply every need of his according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19 WEB. Encourage him to trust in God's timing and provision.

For you, as his wife, remember to speak to him with grace, seasoned with salt, so you will know how to answer everyone Colossians 4:6 WEB. Be patient, kind, and loving, as love is the most excellent way 1 Corinthians 12:31 WEB.

Pray together, for where two or three are gathered together in Jesus' name, there He is in the midst of them Matthew 18:20. This intimacy with God and each other can bring comfort and strength.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up this beloved couple. Lord, we pray for the husband, asking that You comfort him in his depression, guide him in his job search, and remind him of his worth in Your eyes. Help him to renew his mind with Your truth, breaking the chains of negative self-talk. Strengthen his faith in You, and let him feel Your loving presence.

We also pray for the wife, asking that You grant her wisdom, patience, and love as she supports her husband. Help her to encourage him effectively, and keep her faith strong in this trying time.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, sister, in this trial. It's tough, we know, when the one you love is hurting so deeply. Let's cling to the promise in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Jesus is close, He sees your husband's pain, and He cares.

Let's encourage him together, reminding him of the truth in Romans 5:8, "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." That love is unchanging, even when circumstances are hard. Let's pray for him to feel that love deeply, to know that he is not alone, and that God is fighting for him.

As for you, dear one, keep being that beacon of hope and love. Remember, in Ephesians 4:29, we're told to "only say what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." Your words, spoken in love, can make a difference.

Let's pray:

"Dear Lord, we lift up this dear brother to You. Comfort him, Lord. Let him feel Your loving arms around him. Remind him of his worth in Your eyes, that he is Your beloved son. Help him to see the lies of depression and replace them with Your truth. Give him strength, hope, and peace.

We also lift up this sister, Lord. Give her wisdom as she supports her husband. Help her to speak words of life and encouragement. Keep her faith strong, Lord. Let her know that she is not alone in this, that You are with her every step of the way.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
