My mother suffered an ischemic stroke over a year ago, which left her paralyzed on her left side. We had always believed that God would heal her, but last November she was further diagnosed with stage IV nasopharyngeal cancer. At first, only her left eye could not open because of pressure from the tumor. Today we discovered that her right eye can no longer open either. This was what we feared most, and sadly it has now happened. Recently, my mother has been experiencing severe vomiting after eating, a side effect of chemotherapy, and she frequently suffers from nosebleeds. Her legs and feet are also prone to inflammation, and her condition remains very difficult. My sister is caring for her alone. She lives each day with fear and exhaustion, while I am far away and can only receive these updates from a distance. Sometimes I wake from nightmares, feeling helpless. We ask the Lord to have mercy. May my mother experience less suffering, and may God bring comfort and peace to her body and spirit. We also ask for mercy on my sister, who has worked so tirelessly yet sees little improvement in our mother’s condition. She hopes to take our mother to church to receive prayer and the healing of the Holy Spirit. Please pray that Jesus would ease my mother’s physical discomfort and grant my sister the strength, endurance, and peace she needs to continue caring for her. Thank you sincerely for lifting our family up in prayer.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your precious mother and your family in this time of deep trial. The weight of suffering you carry is immense, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, trusting in the God who sees, knows, and holds you in His sovereign hands. Your faith in the Lord’s healing power is a testimony to His goodness, even when the answers we long for are not yet seen. We acknowledge that our hope is not in circumstances but in Christ, who conquered sin and death and who alone has the power to bring comfort, strength, and even miraculous healing according to His will.

First, we lift up your dear mother to the Great Physician, Jesus Christ, who bore our infirmities and carried our diseases. Father, we ask You to touch her body with Your healing hand. Ease the pain, the vomiting, the inflammation, and the suffocating effects of this cancer. Lord, if it is Your will, restore her eyes to see, her strength to rise, and her body to be made whole. But if Your plan is different, we pray for Your grace to sustain her, for Your peace to guard her heart, and for Your presence to be so near that she feels Your love in every moment. We declare over her the promise of Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." May she know that she is never alone, for You are with her.

We also lift up your sister, who has carried this burden with such love and devotion. Father, she is weary, and her heart is heavy with the weight of caregiving. We ask that You would be her strength when she is weak, her peace when she is anxious, and her hope when she feels discouraged. Remind her that her labor is not in vain, for You see every sacrifice and will reward her faithfulness. Give her moments of rest, wisdom in her decisions, and the assurance that You are her ever-present help. We pray that she would feel the body of Christ surrounding her, lifting her up in prayer and practical support. As Galatians 6:2 tells us, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

For you, who are far away yet carry this pain in your heart, we pray for peace that surpasses understanding. The nightmares and the helplessness you feel are real, but we declare that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). May He calm your fears and fill you with His comfort. We encourage you to cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Even in the distance, you can intercede for your mother and sister, and your prayers are powerful and effective.

We also pray for the desire of your sister’s heart—to take your mother to church for prayer and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Father, make a way where there seems to be no way. Provide the strength, the resources, and the opportunity for this to happen. May the prayers of the saints surround your mother, and may the Holy Spirit move in power to bring healing, comfort, and revival to her spirit. We believe that where two or three are gathered in Your name, You are there in the midst of them (Matthew 18:20), and we trust that Your presence will be tangible and transformative.

Lord, we also take a moment to rebuke the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. We stand on the authority of Jesus’ name and command every spirit of infirmity, fear, and despair to flee. We declare that no weapon formed against your mother or your family will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we proclaim that God’s purposes for her life are not yet finished. Whether through healing or through homegoing, we trust that Your will is perfect and Your love is unchanging.

Father, we ask that You would draw near to this family in a tangible way. Comfort them with the comfort You have given us (2 Corinthians 1:4), and remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted. May they experience Your peace, which is beyond human understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen their faith, deepen their trust in You, and fill them with hope for the future, whether in this life or the next.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is in His name that we come boldly before Your throne of grace. We trust in Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your unfailing love. Amen.
