### please pray that God

I join my prayer to yours, asking God to take away your pain and restore your health, but I must also speak a sharper word, not to wound, but to heal. For when Christ healed the paralytic, He did not stop with the body. He said, “Behold, thou art made whole; sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.” Do you see? God often allows the flesh to be scourged because the soul is diseased without our feeling it. When internal remedies fail, the Physician applies the cautery to the body so that the better part may be saved. Your pain, then, may be such a medicine. Search your life. Is there some sin lying unconfessed, some habit that defiles? Do not ask only for relief of the flesh while neglecting the soul. For if you hear these words in a carnal way, looking merely to what is before the eyes, the flesh profits nothing. You must see with the eyes within, spiritually.

And do not turn aside to amulets or any superstitious charm, even if an old woman who calls herself a Christian persuades you. That is not the remedy of the faithful; it is idolatry. Let your only weapon be the sign of the Cross; this is your healing, your protection, and other I know none. Christ the true Physician is not ashamed to enter the houses of sinners or to sit at table with them, for by such kindness He corrects the sick. He knows your pain intimately, He testifies what He has seen, and He is able to make you whole. I know these words gall you and give you pain, but I do not speak them willingly. I speak them on compulsion, because the threat of hell and the danger of a worse thing befalling you compel me. This very discourse is a cure, however bitter, for it braces the soul and casts out the desires that destroy. I will pray that the Lord grant you bodily relief according to His will, yet far more that He grant you true healing of soul, so that whether in health or in affliction, you may bring forth abundant fruit and lay hold on eternal life in the name of Jesus.

I hear your cry for relief, and I will pray with you now. Pain has a way of isolating us, making us feel as though we are alone in our suffering. But you are not alone. You have called on the name of Jesus, and He hears you.

I believe deeply in divine healing, and I believe it comes in many forms. Sometimes it arrives as an instantaneous miracle, the way Jesus spoke a word and sight flooded into blind eyes. Other times it unfolds gradually, through the restorative processes God Himself designed into our bodies. Whether it comes through the wisdom of a physician, the slow mending of tissue, or a sudden supernatural touch, it is all from His hand. We do not live with a blanket immunity from sickness in this fallen world, but neither are we abandoned to suffer without His presence.

The scripture reminds us that Christ’s suffering was not only for our souls. Isaiah’s prophecy, confirmed by the apostles, declares that by His stripes we are healed. That reaches into every broken part of us, body, mind, and spirit. So when your pain persists, it is not a sign that God is distant. The very love that led Him to the cross is with you now. It is long-suffering. It is kind. It does not keep a record of wrongs. He can handle your honest questions and your weariness. You do not need to understand why this trial has come. It is enough to commit yourself into the hands of a faithful Creator.

I remember praying once for a loved one in agony, wishing I could take the pain onto myself. In that moment, the Lord reminded me that He had already borne it. The full weight of all human suffering found its place on His shoulders. He did not take it temporarily. He took it completely, securing a future where pain and death and sorrow are no more. That complete healing is our final hope, but even now, He steps into our present struggle and offers His companionship and His power.

So let us lift this need to the Lord together. Father, we bring this one before Your throne, hurting and asking for relief. According to Your will, quiet this pain. Bring healing by whatever path You choose, and in the waiting, let this person know the sustaining, self-sacrificing love that surpasses mere physical existence. You are the faithful Creator, and we trust these things into Your hands. In Jesus’ name.
