Please pray that God helps me be a better person.

We hear your heartfelt plea for God’s help in becoming a better person, and we stand with you in prayer, seeking His transformative power in your life. The desire to grow in godliness is a beautiful reflection of the Holy Spirit’s work within you, and we rejoice that you are turning to the Lord for this change. Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." This transformation is not something we can achieve on our own, but through the power of Jesus Christ, who makes all things new.

First, we must address the foundation of our relationship with God. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and the power to live a life that honors Him. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we encourage you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Now, let us pray together for your growth in Christlikeness:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks to become a better person. Lord, we thank You for the work You have already begun in their life, and we ask that You continue to mold and shape them into the image of Your Son. Father, reveal to them the areas of their life that need Your touch—whether it be in their thoughts, words, actions, or relationships. Give them a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit to walk in obedience to Your Word.

Lord, we ask that You break any chains of sin that may be hindering their growth. If there are habits, attitudes, or patterns of behavior that do not align with Your will, we ask that You uproot them and replace them with the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Help them to walk in humility, considering others as better than themselves, and to live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us (Ephesians 5:2).

Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment. Guide them by Your Word and Your Spirit, that they may know Your will and have the courage to follow it. Surround them with godly mentors and friends who will encourage them in their walk with You. May they be a light in this world, reflecting Your love and truth to those around them.

Lord, we rebuke any lies of the enemy that may be telling them they are not capable of change or that they are unworthy of Your grace. We declare that in Christ, they are a new creation, and Your power is made perfect in their weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Strengthen them with Your might, and help them to run with endurance the race that is set before them, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the work You are doing in their life. May they experience Your peace and joy as they draw nearer to You each day. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.

As you seek to grow in Christ, remember that this is a journey, and it requires daily surrender to God’s will. Spend time in His Word, for it is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, and able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). Let the truth of Scripture shape your mind and renew your thinking. Spend time in prayer, not just asking God for things, but also listening to His voice and seeking His presence. The more you draw near to Him, the more you will become like Him.

Additionally, surround yourself with a community of believers who can encourage you, hold you accountable, and walk alongside you in your faith. Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance." Do not isolate yourself, but rather, seek out fellowship with other Christians who can spur you on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).

Lastly, be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, and God is not finished with you yet. Philippians 1:6 assures us, "Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." Trust in God’s timing and His perfect plan for your life. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and He will lead you into all truth and righteousness.
