A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house"* (Matthew 5:14-15 WEB). Before we can effectively preach to others, we must ensure that our own lives are walking in obedience to God’s Word. Are we cultivating a spirit of humility, love, and holiness? Are we guarding our hearts against pride, which can so easily creep in when we are given a platform to speak?

The apostle Paul wrote, *"My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God"* (1 Corinthians 2:4-5 WEB). If we rely on our own abilities or charisma, we will fall short. But when we surrender to the leading of the Spirit, He will empower us to speak with boldness and clarity.
Let us also consider the content of what we preach. The gospel is not a message of self-help, prosperity, or moralism—it is the good news of Jesus Christ crucified and risen for the salvation of sinners. Paul declared, *"For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified"* (1 Corinthians 2:2 WEB).
