We join you in this earnest cry for deliverance and we stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who alone has defeated the enemy. Your desire to see every work of the devil ended and every accusation silenced reflects a heart that longs for the victory Jesus has already won for us.
Scripture assures us that Jesus came for this very purpose, for 1 John 3:8 tells us that the Son of God was revealed for this purpose, that he might destroy the works of the devil. At the cross He disarmed the powers of darkness and made a public spectacle of them, and He now lives as our Advocate. We are reminded in Revelation 12:10 that the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night, and in Romans 8:33-34 we are told who could bring a charge against God’s chosen ones, it is God who justifies, who is he who condemns, it is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Because He intercedes for us, the mouth of the accuser is silenced by the blood of the Lamb, for Revelation 12:11 says they overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony.
We also understand that while Christ has won the decisive victory, the final and complete binding and casting away of Satan for eternity is yet to come at the fulfillment of God’s perfect timing as seen in Revelation 20:10. Until then we are called to stand firm and actively resist him in the authority Christ has given us. James 4:7 calls us to be subject therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will flee from you, and 1 Peter 5:8-9 warns us to be sober and self-controlled, be watchful, your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, withstand him steadfast in your faith. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, so we must put on the full armor of God as Ephesians 6:11-12 teaches, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
We pray together with you now.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that through the cross and resurrection, Jesus has destroyed the works of the devil and has become our righteousness and our defense. We ask that You would silence every accusation of the enemy against our dear one, and let the voice of Jesus our Advocate be the only voice that prevails. We ask that You would halt and render powerless every plan, every direct or indirect influence, and every scheme of Satan intended against this life, past, present and future. We pray that You would bind the influence of the evil one and forbid him from carrying out his work, and that You would surround Your child with Your protection, Your truth, and Your peace. Help our dear one to walk in submission to You, to resist the devil steadfast in faith, clothed in the armor of truth, righteousness, the preparation of the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is Your Word. Fill this heart with assurance that no weapon formed against Your child shall prosper and that nothing can separate us from Your love in Christ. Lead this life into greater holiness, obedience, and nearness to Jesus, so that the enemy has no foothold. We ask all of this in the victorious name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to continue to abide in Christ daily, to confess any sin quickly, to remain in His Word, and to pray continually. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds as 2 Corinthians 10:4 says. As you submit to God and resist the enemy in Jesus name, he must flee, not because of our own strength, but because of the One who lives in us, for greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world as 1 John 4:4 declares. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, your Advocate and Victor, and rest in His finished work while you stand firm until the day He makes all things new.
