please pray for ###

Kuydoreth

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me that God give me the same thing I have felt in my former friend, ###. It is a certain quality, or something else entirely beyond my ability to describe or comprehend, that seems to cause the devil to flee simply by its presence. I do not know what it is or how to name it, but I ask God to grant me this very same thing and establish it as a permanent attribute of my being. so that the devil flees whenever he draws near. I pray that God Himself would bestow this upon me and make it an inseparable part of my being, according to His sovereign will. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

We join you in prayer for this deep longing you have expressed, and we thank you for calling upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we have victory.

We understand what you felt in your former friend, that unexplainable quality that seemed to make the enemy flee simply by its presence. What you sensed was very real, but we want to gently help you understand it biblically so your prayer may be answered according to God's truth. The devil does not flee from a mystical quality or a transferable spiritual force as if it were an object we can possess apart from Christ. He flees from Christ Himself living in us, from the Holy Spirit, and from a life submitted to God. Scripture makes this clear in James 4:7, Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And also in 1 John 4:4, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in them.

That greater One is Jesus. What you discerned in your friend was likely the fruit of abiding in Christ, the presence of the Holy Spirit, holiness, faith, and the authority of Jesus resting upon a surrendered life. It is not something God drops upon us as a permanent charm apart from relationship, but it is the result of dwelling in Him daily. Our Lord desires that very same reality for you, not as an impersonal attribute that becomes part of you apart from Him, but as Christ Himself dwelling richly in you and establishing you.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace on behalf of our dear one who hungers for Your power and presence. We ask according to Your sovereign will that You would grant what is truly needed, that You Yourself would fill this life with Your Holy Spirit and make Your presence an inseparable and abiding reality. Establish Christ fully in this heart, create holiness, faith, and steadfast obedience, and let the enemy have no place. We ask that You teach us all to submit ourselves fully to You, to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil as it says in Ephesians 6:11, and to walk in the truth that the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds from 2 Corinthians 10:4. Let the life of Jesus be so formed within that the devil must flee, not because of a quality of our own, but because greater is He who is in us. Make this a settled, permanent work of Your grace as we abide in You.

We encourage you to pursue this not as seeking an experience or an impartation from another person, but as seeking Jesus Himself. Abide in His Word daily, for the Word is our sword. Walk in submission and obedience, confess and forsake any sin, pray without ceasing, and be filled with the Spirit as commanded in Ephesians 5:18. As you draw near to God, He will draw near to you as promised in James 4:8, and as you resist the devil in the authority of Jesus, he will flee. This is God's sovereign will for every believer, that we be conformed to the image of His Son and live in victory.

We trust God hears your prayer and will answer it by giving you more of Himself, which is far greater than any indescribable quality alone, for to have Christ is to have all.

We're grateful you shared this with us. That hunger to walk so closely with God that evil has no foothold near you is a good and honest desire, and we hear how difficult it is that you can't quite name what you sensed in your friend.

Often what we notice in someone else like that isn't a single quality that can be transferred in a moment, but the quiet fruit of a long, faithful walk with Jesus. It grows gradually, almost imperceptibly, over a lifetime with highs and lows, through simple rhythms of listening to God in His Word, talking with Him in prayer, worshiping with other believers, and learning to depend on His Spirit day by day. That growth looks a little different in each person because God knows how each of us is made, and only He makes things grow.

It can help to keep seeking the Giver Himself more than any one experience, trusting Him to form Christlikeness in you from the inside out in His timing and way.

If it's helpful, one steady next step is to keep those simple rhythms unhurried and regular, and to stay close to other believers for worship and fellowship where you can be encouraged and supported. If you have a trusted pastor, sharing this longing with him could help you notice how God is already at work in you.

Father, we lift this dear brother to You in the name of Jesus. Draw him close, fill him afresh with Your Spirit, and shape him more and more into the likeness of Christ. Guard him from the evil one, give him wisdom, peace and discernment, and help him rest in Your sovereign will as You make him Yours in ever deeper ways. Amen.

Your longing to be kept so near to Christ that the adversary finds no place in you is a desire which the Lord Himself can fulfill, for our deliverance is by Divine power alone. It is not a strange quality borrowed from another person, nor any virtue in our own flesh, but Christ dwelling in us by His Spirit who makes the devil to flee. The Scripture says, Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you, and again, He hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.

We have taken your petition before the throne of grace and we join our prayer with yours, according to His sovereign will. We do not ask for a mere feeling or an indescribable influence, but for that which God has promised to all who trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, namely, His own indwelling presence, the sanctifying work of His Spirit, and a living faith that abides in Christ.

Let us pray for you.

O Lord our God, who art a wall of fire round about Thy people, and who hast never forsaken them that fear Thee, we thank Thee that Thou art stronger than Pharaoh and stronger than the devil and all our enemies. We ask in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood is our ransom from the pit, that Thou wouldst look upon this soul who desires to be kept from evil. Grant not a fleeting impression, but that true deliverance which is the work of Thy free grace. Fill this Thy servant with Thy Holy Spirit, establish him in Christ, root him in faith, and make holiness not a passing visit but by Thy keeping power a settled work of grace within. Teach him to walk humbly, to abide in Thy Word, to submit fully to Thee, that in resisting the tempter in Thy strength he may prove Thy promise true. Keep his faith alive, that whatever trials surge around him he may sit upon the Rock of Ages above the waves and declare the works of the Lord. We ask this not for any merit in us, but for the glory of Thy perfections and through the merits of Jesus Christ our only Saviour. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard and I join my voice with yours before the throne of grace in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

You describe a quality you sensed in another which seemed to make the enemy flee, and you ask that God would give you the same and make it a lasting part of your life. I understand this longing, for every faithful soul desires to walk in such holiness and power that the devil cannot stand near.

Scripture teaches us what this truly is. It is not a vague force or an impersonal charm that works by its mere presence, but the grace of the Holy Spirit dwelling in a heart that belongs to Christ. The Spirit is like fire and like water, cleansing us, warming us, making the soul fruitful and quenching the fiery darts of the wicked one. The devil does not flee from us because of something we possess in ourselves, but because Christ dwells in us as we submit to Him in faith, humility and obedience. As it is written, submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Therefore I pray for you according to the sovereign will of God, which is always good and wise.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I ask that You would draw this dear soul closer to Yourself, forgive sins through the blood of Christ, and fill this heart anew with Your Holy Spirit. Grant a deep abiding in Christ, a love for Your Word, a life of repentance and purity and prayer, so that the enemy finds no foothold. Clothe this life with Christ, that by Your power the devil must flee, not by any merit of our own but by Your presence and grace. Make this work lasting as this soul continues to walk with You day by day, bearing fruit that remains. This we ask not as a claim upon a hidden power, but as a humble request for Your transforming grace, according to Your perfect will. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord with a steadfast heart, to walk in obedience, to stay near the fellowship of believers, and to put on the full armor of God. It is in this daily abiding in Christ that His peace and protection become our continual dwelling.

Your desire to walk in a way that evil cannot remain is a good and biblical desire, and I have prayed for you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

What you sensed in your former friend was likely not a mysterious force that can be transferred from one person to another, but the fruit of a heart made pure before God. Scripture says to follow peace with all people and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord, and that the pure in heart shall see God. Holiness is not an outward appearance or a standard of dress, it is a matter of the heart. Jesus taught that it is not what goes into a person that defiles, but what comes out, because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. You can conform to outward rules and still lack the inward reality God requires.

That inward reality is what God calls us to. He says, be holy for I am holy. We are to love not the world nor the things in the world, and to be renewed in the spirit of our mind, putting on the new person created in righteousness and true holiness. Holiness has to do with rightness of character, and righteousness has to do with rightness of conduct. One springs from the other. Holiness is the root and righteousness is the fruit. Many try to live rightly without first being made right at the core, but that effort will break down. There is no motive strong enough to keep right actions going apart from a pure heart. God must make the heart pure.

The way Scripture describes victory over the adversary is also not as a permanent charm that works simply by its presence apart from our daily walk with God. The enemy is your adversary, going about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, and at other times working subtly to deceive and entice us to find fulfillment outside of God's path. We are told to be sober, to be watchful, and to submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, and he will flee from you. We resist him steadfast in the faith, knowing that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. We are not to give place to the devil, but to stand up for what is right in the power of the Holy Spirit and rejoice in the victory we have in Jesus Christ, who was manifested to destroy the works of the devil.

So rather than asking for an inseparable quality that would work automatically, ask the Lord to do the deeper work the Bible points to. Ask Him to establish your heart unblameable in holiness before Him, to cleanse you and make you pure even as He is pure, and to fill you with His Spirit so that you can walk in holiness and righteousness all the days of your life. That is a daily submission and a daily resisting, not a one time impartation that then operates on its own.

My prayer for you is that God, according to His sovereign will, would draw you near to Himself as you draw near to Him, that He would create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you, that you would be kept from compromise with the world and be made ready for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that He would teach you to recognize the enemy's lies, to resist him in faith in the authority and power of Jesus, and to experience the promise that when you submit to God and resist, the devil will flee. May the Lord make you holy in character, and may right living flow from that root, for His glory. Amen.
