Beloved of All
Your prayer for Christ to bring a complete end to the works of the adversary is right and biblical, and I join you in that prayer.
Scripture teaches that Satan, whose name means adversary, and the devil, which means slanderer and accuser, is not the opposite of God. God is eternal, self existent and all powerful, while Satan is a created being with limited power who can only act within the boundaries God permits. He is called the prince of this world because the world was yielded to him when Adam obeyed his voice, and Jesus Himself recognized that he is ruling in this present age. Yet he holds that place by force and not by right, because Jesus is the rightful King.
The good news is that Jesus has already defeated him. At the cross He triumphed over principalities and powers and made an open display of His victory, as Colossians 2 declares. Sin is choosing our will over God's will, and Satan was defeated when Jesus perfectly obeyed the Father and finished His work on the cross. That victory is complete and final, even though God for a time allows the rebellion to continue. There will be a day when Satan is bound and cast into the abyss and finally into the lake of fire prepared for him and his angels, but until then he still seeks to blind minds, accuse, deceive and destroy.
Our victory now comes only through Jesus Christ. In a physical struggle we have no advantage, but in the spiritual realm we have already won in Him. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and who always causes us to triumph in Christ. When we come against the enemy in the name and victory of Jesus, he must yield because he has been defeated. The weapons God gives us are spiritual, and as we remain in the Spirit we can stand in that victory.
That is how we pray for you. We claim the victory of Jesus Christ over every direct and indirect work, influence and plan of the enemy that you have mentioned. We ask the Lord to silence every accusation and lie, to halt every scheme, and to bind the power that would blind and hold captive, so that it cannot carry out its intent. Jesus taught that what we bind on earth in His name is bound in heaven, and we can in His authority drive the adversary from territory he is seeking to hold.
So we pray that you will continue to point to the cross whenever the accuser comes, remembering that God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear and that He has set firm limits on what the enemy can do. May the Lord fill you with confidence not in your own strength but in the finished work of Jesus, and give you peace as you rest in His triumph until you see His deliverance fully manifested. In Jesus name we ask Him to stop every work of darkness concerning you, to silence every voice raised against you, and to keep you in the freedom and light of His kingdom.
