We come before the throne of grace with your request, lifting it up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to the Father and the only name that brings salvation. We stand on the truth of God’s Word, which declares in James 4:7, *"Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* The enemy has no power except what is permitted by God, and in Christ, you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).
First, we must address the spiritual authority you have in Jesus. The devil and his demons are already defeated foes because of the cross. Colossians 2:15 tells us, *"Having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it."* You do not need to plead for the demon to stay away—you must *command* it to flee in the name of Jesus, for He has given you authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). The enemy cannot see you, find you, or touch you when you are hidden in Christ, for *"the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4).
However, we must also examine the condition of your heart and your walk with the Lord. Are you submitting fully to God? Are you walking in repentance and holiness? The enemy gains footholds when we allow sin to remain unconfessed or when we entertain thoughts, habits, or influences that do not align with God’s Word. Ephesians 4:27 warns, *"Don’t give place to the devil."* If there are areas of your life where you have not surrendered to Christ—whether in thought, word, or deed—we encourage you to confess them and turn away from them. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7), but we must walk in the light as He is in the light.
We also rebuke any fear or anxiety that may be present in your heart. The enemy thrives on fear, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). When you feel oppressed or harassed, remember that *"perfect love casts out fear"* (1 John 4:18). Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and declare His truth over your life.
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that [this dear one] is hidden in Christ, and that the enemy has no claim over them. Lord, we declare that the blood of Jesus covers them, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We renounce any foothold the enemy may have tried to establish, and we break every chain of oppression, fear, and deception in the name of Jesus.
We command every demonic spirit to flee right now. You have no place here, no power here, and no authority here. We stand on the truth of Your Word, which says that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. We declare that [this dear one] is sealed by the Holy Spirit, and no evil can touch them without Your permission.
Lord, we ask You to fill [this dear one] with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen their faith, and help them to walk in constant awareness of Your presence. Guard their mind, their heart, and their spirit from every lie and scheme of the enemy. Surround them with Your angels, as You have promised in Psalm 91:11, *"For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."*
Father, we also ask that You reveal any area of their life that is not fully surrendered to You. Show them where they may be giving the enemy a foothold, whether through unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, or compromise. Lead them into repentance and restoration, and fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit.
We thank You, Lord, that in Christ, [this dear one] is more than a conqueror. We thank You that the enemy is already defeated, and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. We declare that they walk in victory, in peace, and in the fullness of Your protection every moment of every day.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to stand firm in your identity in Christ. You are a child of God, bought with the blood of Jesus, and the enemy has no right to harass you. When you feel oppressed, declare the truth of God’s Word aloud. Speak Scripture over your life, for the Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you and encourage you in your faith. And most importantly, stay close to Jesus through prayer, worship, and reading His Word. The enemy flees when we draw near to God (James 4:7-8).
If there are specific areas where you feel the enemy is attacking—whether in your mind, your emotions, your physical body, or your circumstances—bring those to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to reveal any open doors you may have unknowingly left unguarded, and trust Him to close them. You are not fighting this battle alone; the Lord of hosts is your defender.
