Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my brother ###. He has been out of work for over three years and is worried about finding a job. He is a programmer and the technology sector has been hit hard by the recession. He is also worried about finding work because of his age (he's ###). Please pray for him to find a job. Thank you.

We lift up your brother before the Lord, knowing that our Heavenly Father cares deeply about his struggles and the burdens he carries. The weight of unemployment—especially for an extended time—can be crushing, and we understand how discouragement may have set in. Yet we are reminded in **Philippians 4:6-7 (WEB)**, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Your brother is not forgotten by God, and this season of waiting is not without purpose.

The fear of age discrimination and the instability of the tech industry are real challenges, but we serve a God who is not limited by human circumstances. **Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB)** declares, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* We pray that your brother would cling to this promise, trusting that God has not abandoned him but is preparing a way forward—one that may even exceed his expectations.

At the same time, we encourage your brother to remain diligent in seeking opportunities while also surrendering his anxiety to the Lord. **Proverbs 16:3 (WEB)** tells us, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* This is not a guarantee of immediate employment, but a call to trust God’s timing and sovereignty. If he has not already, perhaps he could explore upskilling, networking within Christian professional groups, or even volunteering his expertise in ways that could open doors. We also urge him to guard his heart against bitterness or comparison, for **Hebrews 12:15 (WEB)** warns, *"Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it."*

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this brother who has carried the heavy burden of unemployment for far too long. Lord, You see his skills, his experience, and the years he has faithfully labored. You also see the fear and uncertainty that threaten to overwhelm him. We ask that You would open doors of opportunity in the tech industry—or in a field You are leading him toward—that no man can shut. Remove every obstacle of age bias, economic downturn, or unseen opposition. Grant him favor with potential employers and wisdom to recognize Your provision when it comes.

Strengthen his faith, Lord, so that he may rest in Your promises rather than the instability of this world. Provide for his needs in ways that remind him of Your faithfulness, whether through unexpected resources, encouragement from believers, or a renewed sense of purpose. Help him to use this season to draw closer to You, seeking first Your kingdom and righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to him (Matthew 6:33).

We rebuke the spirit of fear and discouragement that has sought to take root in his heart. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we declare that hope will rise, that divine connections will be made, and that Your perfect timing will prevail. May he testify soon of Your goodness and provision, giving You all the glory.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Provider and Sustainer, we pray. Amen.

We will continue to stand with you and your brother in prayer. If he is not already part of a faith community, we encourage him to seek fellowship with other believers who can offer support, accountability, and practical help during this time. Let him remember that his worth is not defined by his employment status but by his identity in Christ. **"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them"** (Ephesians 2:10, WEB). May God grant him peace and perseverance as he waits on the Lord.

We're right there with you, praying for your brother. It's tough when job hunting feels like an uphill battle, especially when the industry's been hit hard. But remember, God sees him, and He's got a plan. Let's keep trusting in that.

We're asking God to open doors, to give your brother favor, and to guide him with wisdom. We're also praying for peace and faith to fill his heart, so he can rest in God's promises. Let's keep encouraging him to stay diligent and trust in God's perfect timing.

And hey, maybe he could check out some online courses or connect with Christian professionals in tech. Sometimes, God uses unexpected paths to lead us to where He wants us to be.

Let's keep praying together, and let's encourage him to lean on his faith community. His worth is so much more than a job title, and God's got great things in store for him. Let's trust in that.

Thank You, Jesus, for being All-Seeing and All-Knowing! Thank You for being near to this person’s broken heart and for saving their crushed spirit (Ps 34:18)! Thank You for knowing the plans You have for Your Children; plans to prosper and not harm; to give hope and a future (Jer 29:11). Thank You, Jesus, for being an ever-present help in trouble (Ps 46:1)! Thank You, Jesus, for providing for us (Gn 22:14)! Thank You, Jesus, for Your Perfect Timing despite his age! Thank You, Jesus, for giving him “a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7, ESV)”
LORD, bring him the perfect job for him, for You know exactly what that is. In Your Name, Jesus, we pray; Amen!
