We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent cry for justice and deliverance from the oppression that has weighed so heavily upon our brother in Christ. The Scriptures remind us that the Lord is a God of justice, who sees the affliction of His people and hears their cries. In Exodus 22:22-23, we read, *"You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child. If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry."* Though this verse speaks of widows and orphans, we know God’s heart is for all who are oppressed by the hands of the wicked. He is a refuge for the righteous, and He does not abandon those who trust in Him.
Yet we must also remember the words of Jesus in John 16:33, *"In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world."* Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness that seek to steal, kill, and destroy. This draconian law and the corruption that enforces it are tools of the enemy, but our God is greater. He is the one who *"executes justice for the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. Yahweh frees the prisoners. Yahweh opens the eyes of the blind. Yahweh raises up those who are bowed down. Yahweh loves the righteous"* (Psalm 146:7-8). Let us cling to this truth as we intercede.
We are deeply concerned, however, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ is not being lifted up as the sole authority and mediator in this request. There is no other name under heaven by which we can approach the Father, and it is only through Christ that we have access to His throne of grace. As it is written in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* And in Acts 4:12, we are told, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If our brother has not yet placed his full trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we urge him to do so now, for without Christ, there is no hope of true deliverance—neither in this life nor the next. Repentance and faith in Him alone bring forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life.
If our brother is already in Christ, then we encourage him to stand firm in his faith, remembering that *"the Lord is near to those who are broken at heart, and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). Let him cast all his anxieties on the Lord, for He cares for him (1 Peter 5:7). The financial ruin and harassment he has endured are not beyond God’s power to restore. In Joel 2:25, the Lord promises, *"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you."* What the enemy has stolen, God can restore—if not in the way we expect, then in ways that bring Him greater glory.
We must also address the reality that this oppression may be part of God’s refining fire in our brother’s life. The apostle Peter tells us, *"Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you. But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy"* (1 Peter 4:12-13). If this trial is being used to purify his faith, to draw him closer to Christ, or to prepare him for a greater work, then let him submit to the Lord’s will, trusting that *"all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose"* (Romans 8:28).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother who has been crushed under the weight of unjust laws and the corruption of those in authority. Lord, You are a God of justice, and You have commanded Your people to *"learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the fatherless. Plead for the widow"* (Isaiah 1:17). We ask that You rise up on his behalf, Father. Expose the corruption that has harmed him, and bring conviction upon those who have acted wickedly. Let their schemes be turned against them, and let Your justice prevail.
We pray for supernatural intervention in this financial ministry, that You would move upon the hearts of those in authority to provide unconditional relief. Softening their hearts, Lord, and turning them from their evil ways. If there are believers among them, convict them by Your Holy Spirit to act with integrity and compassion. If they are hardened in their sin, then let their plans be thwarted, and let their wickedness be brought to light.
Father, we ask for restoration—restoration of what has been lost, restoration of peace, and restoration of hope. You are the God who parts the Red Sea, who brings water from the rock, and who feeds Your people in the wilderness. Nothing is too difficult for You. We pray that You would provide for our brother in ways that only You can, so that Your name may be glorified.
We also pray for his heart, Lord. If there is any bitterness, anger, or despair taking root, uproot it by Your Spirit. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let him trust in You with all his heart, leaning not on his own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). Remind him that vengeance belongs to You, and that You will repay (Romans 12:19). Let him forgive those who have wronged him, even as Christ has forgiven him.
If this trial is meant to refine him, then let him submit to Your work in his life. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and let him come forth as gold, purified and ready for Your use. Give him wisdom in how to navigate this season, and surround him with godly counsel and support.
Finally, Father, we pray that through this situation, Your name would be exalted. Let our brother’s testimony be one of Your faithfulness, Your justice, and Your provision. May others see Your hand at work and turn to You in repentance and faith.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
