We are glad to join you in prayer for your career aspirations, but let's remember that our ultimate goal should be to serve and glorify God in all we do. Success is not measured by the world's standards, but by our obedience to God's will. As the Word of God says, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ." Colossians 3:23-24 WEB.
Firstly, we notice that Jesus' name and faith in Jesus was not mentioned in this prayer request. The Bible tells us that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. In John 14:6 WEB Jesus declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Furthermore, there is no other name by which we can be saved, Acts 4:12. WEB. Therefore we must believe in Him and make our requests known by faith in His name.
Now, let's address your request. While desiring success and achievement is not inherently wrong, it's crucial to ensure that these desires do not become idols that replace God's primacy in our lives. The Bible warns, "For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?" Matthew 16:26 WEB.
Instead of focusing on fame and international recognition, let's pray that God uses you in a mighty way in whatever capacity He has planned for you. Pray that God opens doors for you to serve Him through your career, and that you find contentment and fulfillment in His will, whether that means becoming an internationally renowned lawyer or arbitrator or faithfully serving Him in a more humble role. Again the Bible says "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 WEB.
Let's pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother/sister who desires to succeed in their career. Lord, help them to align their desires with Your will and to find contentment and fulfillment in serving You. Open doors for them to use their gifts and talents for Your glory, and help them to be a light in whatever field You place them. Help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, not getting caught up in the world's definition of success. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on the following verses as you pursue your career goals:
"Seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33 WEB
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them." Ephesians 2:10 WEB
