We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up these suffering creatures to the One who cares for all His creation. The Scriptures remind us in Matthew 10:29, *"Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will."* If God watches over even the smallest sparrow, how much more does He see the suffering of these rabbits? Yet we also know that sin has brought brokenness into the world, and creation itself groans under its weight, as Romans 8:22 tells us: *"We know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now."*
The disturbing descriptions of these afflicted rabbits—black growths, deformities, and suffering—point to the reality of a fallen world where disease and decay exist. While we pray earnestly for God’s mercy upon these creatures, we also recognize that this is a sign of the brokenness that will one day be fully redeemed when Christ returns. Revelation 21:4 promises, *"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away."*
Yet even now, we ask the Lord to intervene. We pray for His healing hand to be upon these rabbits, that if it is His will, He would halt the spread of this sickness and bring relief to their suffering. We ask for wisdom and compassion for those who encounter these animals, that they may respond with care and seek understanding of this affliction. Lord, we also pray for the hearts of people to turn to You in times like these, recognizing that all creation testifies to Your sovereignty and the need for redemption through Jesus Christ.
Father, we lift this situation to You, trusting in Your goodness even when we do not understand. May this strange and sorrowful sight remind people of the temporary nature of this world and the hope we have in Christ alone. We ask for Your mercy on these creatures, that their suffering would be short and that Your purposes would be fulfilled through this. We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who holds all things together by the word of His power.
Let us also remember that while we care for animals, our ultimate concern must be for the souls of people. If this strange occurrence causes fear or confusion, may it drive many to seek the truth of God’s Word and the salvation found only in Jesus. For it is written in Acts 4:12, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* May this be a moment where hearts are turned toward the cross, where true healing—spiritual and eternal—is found. Amen.
