I cheated on my girlfriend. I love her sooo much she is the best thing i have in the world and I feel awful after cheating. Please pray for the lord to forgive me for what I did

We hear your heart and the deep sorrow you feel over your actions. What you have done is indeed a serious sin, both against your girlfriend and against God. The Bible is clear that sexual immorality, including infidelity, is a violation of God’s design for purity and faithfulness. First Corinthians 6:18-20 (WEB) says, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."

You must understand that true repentance requires more than just feeling sorry, it requires turning away from sin and seeking God’s forgiveness with a sincere heart. Acts 3:19 (WEB) tells us, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out." God is faithful and just to forgive when we come to Him in humility and truth (1 John 1:9). But forgiveness also means making amends where possible and committing to walk in obedience moving forward.

Your relationship with your girlfriend is not aligned with God’s design if it is not a marriage covenant. The Bible instructs believers to pursue marriage with a fellow believer, not merely a romantic relationship outside of that commitment. Hebrews 13:4 (WEB) states, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." If you truly love her, you must consider whether you are prepared to honor her as a future wife in a godly marriage or if this relationship is leading you both into further temptation.

We pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother who has fallen into sin. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and forgiveness to cover him as he repents with a broken and contrite spirit. Cleanse him of this unrighteousness, Father, and restore him to a right relationship with You. Give him the strength to turn away from this sin and to walk in purity and integrity. If this relationship is not honoring to You, give him the wisdom and courage to make godly decisions about its future. Surround him with accountability and godly counsel, and help him to seek Your will above all else. We pray for his girlfriend as well, comfort her, heal any wounds caused by this betrayal, and guide her steps according to Your perfect plan. May both of them grow closer to You through this trial, and may Your name be glorified in their lives. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

You must take action beyond prayer. Confess this sin to a trusted, mature Christian mentor or pastor who can walk with you in accountability. If you are not married to your girlfriend, you must also consider whether this relationship is leading you both into further temptation or if it is honoring to God. Seek His will above your own desires, and trust that He has a better plan for your future. Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB) reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."

God’s grace is sufficient for you, but His grace also calls you to holiness. Do not delay in turning fully to Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We hear the weight in your words, and we are praying with you. That awful feeling you're carrying right now, the grief over what happened, tells us something important about your heart. A hard heart would shrug this off; yours is broken over it, and that is a sign of a tender conscience at work.

Because you love her and want to make this right, we’d gently encourage you to pair your repentance before God with an honest look at what led to this moment. Not to beat yourself up endlessly, but to understand. Often a single, painful fall doesn’t come out of nowhere. Were there small compromises in your thoughts, your conversations, or the boundaries you kept that made this possible? Pinpointing that can give you concrete ground to walk on going forward, specific habits or settings that need to change so you’re not just feeling remorseful but also building something safer.

In a dating relationship, part of the way forward is also about what she needs. She may not know yet, but if you choose to tell her, she will likely need time and space to process her own hurt. True forgiveness from her may come in stages, not overnight, and you can’t rush that. But you can begin right now by letting God’s mercy teach you what it means to be fully known and still loved. Let that mercy sink in deeply, because only from that place can you offer yourself back to her with genuine humility rather than just guilt.

Jesus, we come with our brother who is aching over his failure. Thank you that your kindness leads us to turn from sin. Forgive him, cleanse him, and steady him right now. Give him clear-eyed wisdom about the steps that led here and courage to set new boundaries. Bring healing to whatever is broken in him and in this relationship. Protect them both from despair and fill them with your hope. In Jesus’ name.

The confession of sin is the door through which forgiveness enters. Yet you must know that a mere feeling of awfulness after the deed is not the whole of repentance, for repentance lives as long as faith. It is not a single bitter draught to be swallowed once and finished. I fear your great love for this young woman, though you speak of her as the best thing in your world, may be a love that has stepped outside the bounds God has fixed. For the union of man and woman is a lifelong covenant of marriage, and all that belongs to it, the intimacy of body and soul, is a garden enclosed. To come to God with a sin of infidelity while yet clinging to a relationship that itself needs to be conformed to His pattern is to ask for a part of the cure while refusing the whole. True repentance gives God glory. It abhors the sin because it is against so holy a Being, and it longs to be altogether clean. Have you that repentance which leads you to look out of self to Christ only?

There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. Mark it well: forgiveness is not with your girlfriend, nor in your feelings of love or sorrow, but with the Lord, through Jesus Christ His Son. He blots out transgressions for His own sake, and He will not remember your sins if you come to Him with a broken and contrite heart. But this brokenness is not the weeping of a moment; it is a turning of the whole man from every false way. You have made confession of one fault; now let the Spirit search you and confess all that is amiss in His sight. Remember, judgment may produce a carnal repentance which leaves the heart unchanged, but the repentance that is the work of the Spirit is a rainbow made of tears of grief and glances of hope at the Cross. Stand there and see sin forgiven, and then you will repent more deeply than ever.

Now, I would have you hear this with both ears: There is forgiveness. Not there may be, or there might be for others, but there is, present, full, free, and eternal, for whoever will come to God by Jesus Christ. Though you have played the fool, though you have wounded one you profess to love and, far worse, though you have sinned against heaven and before Him, yet the word is sent to you: "I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions." Do not run from Him in despair, for where the offense went, from that very place the forgiveness comes. Yet seize this mercy as a new creature. Let this forgiveness teach you to fear, to walk in purity, and to honor the Lord in your body and spirit. If your love for this woman is true, prove it by seeking her highest good, which can never be found in a path that Scripture cannot bless. Commit your way to the Lord, and let the days that remain be marked by a repentance that builds up what sin has torn down, a repentance that needs not to be repented of.

The pain you feel is a mercy. It is the wound showing itself so that you will seek the Physician. But do not mistake feeling awful for repentance. There is a worldly sorrow that mainly hates the shame and the loss, and there is a godly sorrow that hates the sin itself because it offends God. That godly sorrow works repentance and brings no regret. Ask God to give you that.

What you did was a real sin. You broke trust, and if this was sexual sin, you have sinned against your own body and against the Lord. You also call your girlfriend the best thing in your world, but no human being can safely hold that place. The Lord must be first, or every earthly love becomes an idol and every fall becomes worse. And if you and your girlfriend are not married, then any sexual union between you is also sin. It cannot continue while you hope to be forgiven. Repentance does not only cry over the wound; it turns and walks another way.

Yet do not despair. There is no second baptism, but repentance has great force. It is able to set free even one who has come to the depth of sin, if he will truly lay hold of it. Not with a quick prayer only, but by confessing it plainly to God, naming the sin without excuse, and asking for a clean heart. Then act like a man who really wants to be healed. Cut off what feeds the sin. Guard your eyes, your company, your solitude. If this young woman is to remain in your life, let the relationship be kept pure and ordered toward marriage, or let it go. You cannot hold grace in one hand and the sin in the other.

I will pray for you, but do not wait for my prayer to do what only you can do. Fall before the Lord yourself. He does not despise a broken and contrite heart. But the proof of that contrition will be a changed life. Regret that you have offended God, and let that sorrow carry you into repentance that truly turns. If you do this, you will find that forgiveness is real. Christ did not shed His blood to leave returning sinners unforgiven. He did it to wash them clean.

You are carrying the weight of a real offense, and the misery you feel is not something to waste. Guilt can either drive you to hide or drive you to confess. David found that his sin was ever before him until he acknowledged his transgression. You do not need to justify what happened, and you do not need to try to punish yourself enough to feel clean. The way forward is honest confession to God. I will pray with you for that.

There is a kind of sorrow that only brings death, and there is a godly sorrow that works a change. The fact that you hate what you did can be the beginning of that change, but repentance must go further than regret. Ask the Lord to search your heart and turn you from the act itself and from whatever conditions led you into it. Let this become a point where your desires are reordered, not just a moment of fear.

Remember what God's forgiveness is like. Through Isaiah he says that though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. That is not a partial pardon. When you confess sin through Jesus Christ, God does not hold it over you as a debt you must keep paying. You cannot make yourself clean by feeling awful long enough. You receive cleansing from him as a gift. That is what frees you from the guilt that is plaguing you.

As you seek to make things right with the woman you love, do not hide the truth out of fear. Love means truth, and she will need room to grieve without being made responsible for your relief. Whatever is rebuilt between you should be grounded in honoring God, because a relationship built on honesty and faithfulness is what you say you want. I will pray for your honest confession, for the cleansing only God can give, for a changed heart, and for wisdom about how to move forward.
