We are truly saddened to hear that you're facing difficulties in your marriage, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this struggle. We are here to pray with you and encourage you with God's Word.
Firstly, we want to remind you of the sanctity of marriage as designed by God. As it is written in Matthew 19:6, "So then, they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate." Marriage is a lifelong commitment that should be honored and cherished, and we will pray for God's will to be done in your marriage.
It's important to remember that God hates divorce, as stated in Malachi 2:16, " 'For I hate divorce,' says Yahweh, the God of Israel, 'and him who covers his garment with violence!' says Yahweh of Armies. 'Therefore pay attention to your spirit, that you don't be unfaithful.'" We encourage you to seek God's face and trust in His power to bring healing and restoration to your marriage.
In seeking to "make it work," we encourage both of you to be humble and open to change. Consider the words of Philippians 2:3-4, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." Remember that love is not self-seeking, as described in 1 Corinthians 13:5.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this beloved couple to Your throne of grace. We pray for healing, restoration, and a renewed commitment to each other and to You, Lord. Help them to be humble, patient, and forgiving, as You are forgiving. Guide them as they seek to honor You in their marriage.
Lord, we know that You desire for marriages to reflect the relationship between Christ and the Church, His bride. Help this couple to strive towards that ideal, growing in love and unity each day. Give them the strength to persevere through trials and the wisdom to make decisions that honor You.
We also pray for any areas of disobedience to be revealed and for them to submit to any conviction that You give them. When both the husband and wife are submitted to you and to each other, you will be glorified in their marriage. Please reveal any disobedience that is causing this marriage to falter.
Finally, Lord, we pray for their hearts to be drawn closer to You and to each other. Remind them of the love that brought them together and help them to build a stronger, more Christ-centered marriage. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, God is faithful, and He cares for you and your spouse. Trust in Him, and He will guide you through this challenging time. Also, be alert for any disobedience against God that may be causing the marriage problems. If the husband and wife are not submitted to God's authority and obedient then the marriage will continue to suffer. Pray for the Holy Spirit to point out any disobedience and for both the husband and wife to be obedient to any revelation that is given.
