We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious marriage that is hanging by a thread. Father God, we know that You are the Author of marriage, the One who joins a man and a woman together as one flesh, and that what You have joined, no man should separate (Mark 10:9). We stand in the gap for this union, believing that nothing is impossible for You (Luke 1:37).
Lord, we ask that You would heal the deep wounds of childhood trauma that have caused this dear daughter to shut down emotionally. You are the God who binds up the brokenhearted and heals their wounds (Psalm 147:3). We pray that You would bring to remembrance the loving memories that once filled her heart, and that You would restore the joy of her salvation—both in her relationship with You and in her marriage (Psalm 51:12). Father, soften her heart and renew her desire to fight for this covenant, not out of obligation, but out of love and hope in You.
We also pray for her husband, that You would strengthen him to be a godly leader, full of patience, grace, and wisdom. Teach him how to love his wife as Christ loved the church, laying down his life for her (Ephesians 5:25). May he be a source of stability and encouragement, pointing her to You in every moment of doubt or fear.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of division that seeks to destroy this marriage. We declare that no weapon formed against this union shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them, bringing conviction where there is sin, repentance where there is hardness, and restoration where there is brokenness. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We also want to gently remind this dear parent that salvation and healing come only through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If this daughter has not yet surrendered her life to Jesus, we pray that she would come to know Him as her Lord and Savior, for it is only in Him that true healing and restoration can be found. We encourage her to seek Him with all her heart, for He promises that those who seek Him will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13).
Father, we ask for a miracle in this marriage. Let Your love be the foundation that rebuilds what has been broken. May they both grow in their faith, drawing closer to You and to one another. We trust in Your faithfulness, knowing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
