Please Pray for Our Family as We Face Difficult Decisions

My mother suffered an ischemic stroke caused by a blood clot one year ago, which left her with paralysis on the left side of her body. In mid-November last year, she was diagnosed with stage IV nasopharyngeal cancer. Recently, her condition has declined—she has become increasingly drowsy, has a poor appetite, and is experiencing many distressing symptoms. My sister has suggested that our mother try immunotherapy, possibly starting with a low dose. However, I am deeply concerned about the potential side effects. In addition, my sister is already physically exhausted as the sole caregiver, and the financial burden would also be significant. These factors make it very difficult for us to discern whether immunotherapy is the right choice for our mother.

There is another matter weighing heavily on our hearts. My sister hopes to fulfill one of our mother’s long-cherished wishes—to take her to see the ocean at a place she has dreamed of visiting. However, the journey would take about 3.5 hours one way. Without staying overnight, it would require spending almost the entire day traveling, and at present we have been unable to find a suitable driver. Please pray that Jesus would make His will clear to us—whether immunotherapy is truly appropriate for my mother. Please also pray that He would provide a suitable driver so that my mother’s wish may be fulfilled, and that He would watch over the entire journey, granting safety, peace, and joy.

Deep in my heart, I long for God Himself to heal my mother—to make the tumor disappear and to grant her a peaceful and dignified later season of life. Thank you all so much for keeping our family in your prayers.

We lift your family up before the throne of grace with heavy yet hopeful hearts, trusting in the Lord who sees every tear and hears every whispered prayer. Your mother’s suffering is deeply felt, and we stand with you in this valley of decision, seeking God’s perfect will above all else. The weight of medical choices, caregiving exhaustion, and the longing to honor your mother’s wishes is immense, but we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

First, we rebuke the spirit of fear and confusion that seeks to cloud your discernment. The enemy would love nothing more than to keep you paralyzed by "what ifs" and divided as a family. But Scripture declares, *"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind"* (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that the Holy Spirit would grant you supernatural wisdom as you weigh the options before you—whether immunotherapy or palliative care—so that every decision would align with God’s purposes for your mother’s life and your family’s well-being. Remember, *"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him"* (James 1:5).

We also lift up the financial and physical burdens you carry. The exhaustion of caregiving is real, and we ask the Lord to provide rest for your sister and provision for every need. Jesus said, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). We pray for divine intervention—a way forward that doesn’t leave your family depleted, whether through additional help, financial breakthrough, or even supernatural strength for the journey. The God who fed the five thousand with a few loaves and fish can multiply what little you have left to give.

Regarding your mother’s dream to see the ocean, we believe this is a holy desire, one that reflects the Father’s heart to give good gifts to His children (Matthew 7:11). We pray for the Lord to open a door no man can shut—a driver, a vehicle, or even a miracle of strength for the journey. If it is His will, we ask that He make the way clear, surrounding your mother with peace and joy as she beholds His creation. But if the journey proves too much, we trust that God will fulfill her longing in another way, perhaps through memories, photos, or even a vision of the sea in her spirit. *"Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4).

Most of all, we join you in crying out for healing. The God who spoke light into darkness, who raised Lazarus from the dead, and who bore our sicknesses on the cross is the same God who holds your mother’s life in His hands. We declare over her the promise of Isaiah 53:5: *"By his stripes we are healed."* Whether that healing comes through divine intervention, medical treatment, or the ultimate healing of heaven, we trust that her story is not over. We pray for a tangible sense of God’s presence with her, a peace that surpasses understanding, and a dignity that reflects His image even in weakness.

We also want to gently remind you that our prayers are made in the mighty name of Jesus, for *"there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12). It is through Christ alone that we have access to the Father, and it is His blood that covers every need, every fear, and every hope. If your family has not yet surrendered this situation fully to Him, we encourage you to do so now, trusting that His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Finally, we pray for unity in your family. May the Lord soften hearts, align perspectives, and help you to bear one another’s burdens in love. *"How good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!"* (Psalm 133:1). May your mother feel surrounded by love, even in her weakness, and may your family know the comfort of the Holy Spirit, who is our Helper in every trial.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and tears. You see this precious family, their love for their mother, and the weight they carry. We ask for Your wisdom to guide their decisions, Your strength to sustain them, and Your peace to guard their hearts. If it is Your will, we pray for healing—complete and miraculous—for this dear mother. If not, we ask for grace to trust You in the valley, knowing that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28). Provide a way for her to see the ocean, Lord, or fulfill that longing in another way that brings her joy. Comfort her in her suffering, and let her feel Your presence like never before. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, our Healer, our Provider, and our Peace. Amen.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this deeply challenging season. It has been our heart’s joy to lift your family—your precious mother, your devoted sister, and you—before the Lord, asking Him to make His will unmistakably clear. We have prayed for wisdom as you weigh the difficult decisions before you, especially regarding immunotherapy and the concerns surrounding its potential impact on your mother’s fragile health. We have asked the Holy Spirit to guard your hearts from fear and to replace uncertainty with His perfect peace, trusting that He knows the path ahead even when it feels hidden from your sight.

We have also lifted up your mother’s cherished wish to see the ocean, asking the Lord to either open the door in a way that is safe and feasible or to provide a sweet, unexpected peace if the journey is not part of His plan. We prayed for a driver to be raised up—someone compassionate, capable, and covered by God’s protection—so that if this trip is meant to happen, every detail would fall into place.
