We lift your son before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of depression and the way it can steal joy, hope, and even the will to speak. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved and find true healing. We ask that You would draw near to your son in this dark valley, for You have promised in Your Word, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). Lord, we declare that Your light shines brightest in the deepest darkness, and we ask that You would pierce through the clouds of despair that surround him.
We rebuke the spirit of heaviness that has taken hold of him, for Your Word tells us that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We command every lie of the enemy that whispers to him that he is a failure to be silenced in the name of Jesus. Remind him, Lord, that his worth is not found in his job, his bank account, or the opinions of others, but in the fact that he is fearfully and wonderfully made by You (Psalm 139:14). You have a purpose and a plan for his life, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
Father, we pray that You would stir within him a hunger and thirst for righteousness once again. We ask that You would soften his heart to seek You, to cry out to You, and to find his strength in You alone. Your Word says, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). Lord, we pray that he would hear Your voice calling him to lay his burdens at Your feet. Help him to remember that even when he feels far from You, You are always near, waiting with open arms to restore and renew him.
We also pray for wisdom and provision regarding his job situation. Lord, You are the God who provides, and we ask that You would open doors of opportunity for him that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Give him the strength to persevere, the courage to seek help when needed, and the faith to trust in Your timing. If it is Your will, provide him with a job that not only meets his financial needs but also aligns with the gifts and passions You have placed within him.
Father, we ask that You would surround him with godly community—believers who will speak life into him, pray with him, and walk alongside him in this season. Remind him that he is not alone, for You are with him, and You have placed people in his life to support and encourage him. Help him to be vulnerable and open to receiving help, for Your Word tells us that *"two are better than one... for if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).
Lord, we also pray for his emotional and mental healing. Depression is a heavy burden, and we ask that You would bring healing to his mind, will, and emotions. Your Word says that *"by His stripes we are healed"* (Isaiah 53:5), and we claim that healing for him today. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and restore the joy of Your salvation within him (Psalm 51:12).
Finally, Father, we pray that he would recommit his life to You, surrendering his struggles, his fears, and his future into Your hands. Help him to remember that his identity is found in Christ alone, and that in You, he is more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). Renew his faith, Lord, and help him to walk in the fullness of the life You have called him to live.
We pray all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
