PLEASE PRAY FOR MY PROTECTION

Thank you for sharing this burden so honestly. To have someone threaten you and your family and speak about where you live and what you drive is deeply unsettling, and it is right to bring it to the Lord and to ask others to pray.

It is important to recognize what fear tries to do. One of the most common tools of the enemy is to use fear to paralyze you and to hinder the good work God has given you to do. Fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear takes over, our reactions are often wrong. There is a helpful example in Scripture of a man who was rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. His enemies tried again and again to make him afraid, even sending messages that he should hide himself away for safety. He discerned that this was an attempt to create a reaction out of fear, and he refused to be moved by it. He kept his eyes on the Lord and continued the work. You can do the same. Acknowledge the fear you feel, but do not let fear make your decisions. Bring the fear to God and let faith lead.

Scripture gives a precious promise for this kind of moment. In Proverbs we are told that whoever listens to the Lord will dwell safely and will be quiet from the fear of evil. Wisdom will deliver you from those who walk in dark and crooked ways and delight in doing harm. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and to fear Him is to hate evil and to depart from it. That holy reverence for God puts all other fears in their proper place. When you walk in wisdom and in the fear of the Lord, He Himself becomes your confidence and keeps your foot from being taken.

Jesus Himself is our protection as we abide in Him. That is where we experience His grace and keeping power. When we pray, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, we are asking the One whose is the kingdom and the power and the glory to cover us.

I also encourage you to walk in prudence as well as prayer. Wisdom dwells with prudence. Do not be wise in your own eyes alone. Take practical steps that wisdom directs. Make sure your supervisors and your employer have a written record of the exact threats that were made. Follow your company policy for reporting threats, and also report this to the proper civil authorities so there is an official record. Let trusted family members and coworkers know what was said so they can be watchful with you. Keep doors and vehicles secured, and do not try to handle contact with this client alone. These are not acts of unbelief, they are ways wisdom delivers the hunted like a deer from the hand of the hunter.

I am praying for you now.

Father in heaven, You see this threat and You know every detail. You are faithful to Your word and You are our refuge. I ask in the name of Jesus that You would place Your hand of protection over this social worker, over every member of the family, and over their home and property. Quiet the fear of evil and fill the heart with faith and peace. Give wisdom to know what to do and what to say, and give favor with the employer and with the authorities who need to help. Keep watch over coming and going, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Deliver them from evil, and let them dwell safely in Your care. Give rest at night and confidence in the day that You are near and that You will keep their feet from being taken. In Jesus name, Amen.

If the threats continue or escalate in any way, please go immediately to local law enforcement and to your leadership for protection, and continue to let believers around you pray and stand with you.
