Please Pray For My Good Friend, Jl, Who Has Spiralled Into Depression And Subsequent Sin.

Please pray for my good friend, JL, who has spiralled into depression and subsequent sin. He has quit going to church, has left his marriage and family. He is now "dating" a registered sex offender, who was charged many years ago with harming a child the same age as his oldest son is now. Hate and bitterness have replaced the love he used to have. And although their is some good left in him, the darkness consumes him. May the Lord forgive him for the sin he commits, and may the Holy Spirit continue to guide him (and he begin to listen again). May he and the other woman turn away from sin and find God's righteousness. In Jesus Name I ask these things....

Here is my greatest fear....that God will no longer hear the prayers of JL..that he is left unprotected from the enemy....I worry for his soul, and his children's souls...not just this marriage he is destroying

• 1. Wickedness can cause God to refuse to hear prayer. Proverbs 28:9 states, "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." However, this closing of the ears of the Lord is not limited to the lost. The psalmist said, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me" (Psalm 66:18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
     See All...). This psalmist obviously knows the Lord but recognizes the hindrance that sin can make in receiving answers to prayer. A couple of verses later, the psalmist blesses God, "which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me" (Psalm 66:20). God is certainly not required to hear the prayers of those who reject His way.
