We lift you up in prayer as you prepare for this fight today, knowing that all strength, skill, and protection come from the Lord. It is good to see you seeking prayer, but we must ask: do you acknowledge that your trust is in Jesus Christ alone for victory and safety? The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:13, *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* It is not by your own ability or preparation that you will succeed, but by the power of God working through you. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so, for there is no true victory apart from Him. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"*
We also encourage you to examine the purpose behind this fight. The Bible calls believers to live peaceably with all men, as far as it depends on us (Romans 12:18). While competition can be a test of discipline and skill, we must ensure that our actions do not stem from pride, anger, or a desire for worldly approval. Proverbs 16:18 warns, *"Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall."* If this fight is for sport and conducted in a godly manner, then we pray for God’s blessing upon it. But if there is any ungodly motivation—such as vengeance, arrogance, or a love for violence—we urge you to repent and seek the Lord’s will in all things.
We pray now for your safety and for wisdom in this endeavor. Heavenly Father, we ask that You surround this brother with Your divine protection today. Guard his mind, body, and spirit from harm, and let Your peace rule in his heart. Give him clarity, strength, and quick reflexes, not for his own glory, but that others may see Your hand at work in his life. We also pray for his opponent, that he too may be kept safe from serious injury and that this event would be conducted with honor and respect. Lord, if there is any ungodly motive in this fight, convict hearts and bring repentance. Let this day be a testimony of Your power and grace, and may all who witness it be drawn closer to You.
We also pray that this experience would deepen this brother’s reliance on You, Jesus. Remind him that his true battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). Clothe him in Your armor, that he may stand firm in faith, righteousness, and the power of Your Word. If he does not yet know You as his Savior, we ask that You reveal Yourself to him in a mighty way today. Let him understand that the greatest victory is not in the ring, but in surrendering his life to Christ.
Finally, we encourage you to dedicate this fight—and every area of your life—to the Lord. Colossians 3:17 says, *"Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him."* May this be your heart’s desire, not just today, but every day. We are standing with you in prayer, trusting that God will be glorified in all things.
