We join with you in prayer for this young student who has been missing school and struggling to stay engaged, and we thank you for bringing his need before the Lord with a caring heart.
We understand your concern for him, and we want to lift up not only his attendance and engagement but also the deeper heart issues that you mentioned. When he goes home and is not truthful with his parents and refuses to come to school, it reveals a struggle that needs both grace and truth. The Scripture is clear about dishonesty, for it says, You shall not lie to one another Colossians 3:9, and Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight Proverbs 12:22, and again, Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor Ephesians 4:25. We say this not to condemn him but because we love him and want to see him walk in freedom and integrity, and we pray that the Lord will work in his heart to love truth and to honor his parents. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right Ephesians 6:1, and Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord Colossians 3:20. We also pray for his parents and for you as those who care for him, that God will give you wisdom, patience, and unity as you guide him. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5.

Lord, You know his heart, his struggles, and the reasons he finds it hard to stay engaged and to desire to come to school. We ask that You would give him a renewed mind and a joyful spirit toward learning, that You would help him to find purpose and delight in the opportunities You have placed before him. Remove any spirit of fear, anxiety, discouragement, or apathy that holds him back, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. Help him to speak truth and to walk in honesty with his parents and teachers, and give him a heart that desires to obey and to honor those in authority over him. Lord, comfort and equip his parents, give them discernment to understand what he is facing, and help them to respond with loving discipline and encouragement that points him to You. We ask that You would bring good communication between home and school and that all who care for him would work together for his good. Let him experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding as he learns to bring his worries to You, for Your word says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We pray that he will come to know Jesus as his Savior if he does not yet, and that he will grow in knowledge and favor with You and with others. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to show him consistent love while also holding him accountable in truth, to praise his efforts when he does engage, to help him see the value of diligence and education as part of God's calling on his life, and to keep covering him in prayer and pointing him to the Lord who can give him joy and strength for each day.

We have heard your burden for this dear boy and we bring him before the Lord with you in prayer.
We pray to the great Teacher who, while He sits amid the choirs of angels, comes down to His little children to teach them to do His will. As it is written, Teach me to do thy will for thou art my God, so we ask that the Lord would take this child by the arms as He took Ephraim, and teach him to walk. You may tell a child how to walk but he will not walk for all that, he must be taught to go, and we pray that God Himself would put this young one to school and give him a willing mind to learn and to do his duty.
We ask that his soul may become as a weaned child, lying quiet and content upon its mother's bosom, perfectly satisfied. The weaning child frets and desires strong upon him, but the weaned child is content and his desires lie still. So we pray that the fretting and reluctance that now keeps him from school may be stilled by grace, and that he may find a settled and cheerful spirit to attend his lessons and to be engaged therein.
We pray also concerning his speech toward his parents, for we know that lying lips are an abomination to the Lord and that disobedience brings guilt before God. We do not ask God to bless untruth, but we ask Him to take it away and to give this boy a love for truth and an obedient heart, to honour his father and his mother in the Lord, and to speak what is honest and right.
We remember his household before God, and we pray that every family may have its morning and its evening prayer, that this child upon his mother's knee may learn to say Our Father and find the answer in Christ. If there be any yet unconverted, we pray the Lord first to make him a child by regeneration, and then to make him a weaned child by sanctification, that he may delight in what once he refused.
May the Lord who can make the flesh as the flesh of a little child and make us clean, grant to this boy health and willingness, a truthful tongue, and a joy in coming to school and profiting there, and above all a heart to know the holy Child Jesus, who is our Mediator and Saviour.
We will continue to bear him up before the throne, trusting the Lord to work all for His glory. Amen.
