We come before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this marriage and family in urgent prayer. The enemy seeks to destroy what God has joined together, but we know that our God is a God of restoration, redemption, and miracles. The Scriptures remind us in Mark 10:9, *"What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."* This marriage is under attack, and we must stand in the gap for it, pleading for God’s intervention.
First, we must address the gravity of the words spoken by this husband. His admission that he understands why men take their own lives is deeply troubling and reveals a spirit of despair that is not from the Lord. Suicide is a lie from the enemy, a permanent solution to temporary pain, and it leaves devastation in its wake. We rebuke this spirit of hopelessness and declare that God has a purpose and a plan for this man’s life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* We pray that this truth would penetrate his heart and that he would turn to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who offers living hope (1 Peter 1:3).
We also recognize the pain and brokenness in this marriage. Counseling is a good step, but true healing can only come from the Lord. We pray that both husband and wife would surrender their hearts fully to Christ, repenting of any sin, bitterness, or unforgiveness that may be hindering their relationship. Ephesians 4:31-32 commands, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* We ask the Lord to soften their hearts toward one another and to give them the strength to fight for their marriage, not just for their daughter’s sake, but for the glory of God.
The mention of a business adds another layer of stress, but we know that God is our Provider. We pray for wisdom and divine strategy for this man’s work, that the Lord would open doors no man can shut and provide abundantly so that financial strain would not be a source of division. Philippians 4:19 assures us, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* We declare that this family will lack no good thing as they seek first God’s Kingdom (Matthew 6:33).
Most critically, we must emphasize that this marriage must be rooted in Christ to survive. If this couple is not walking closely with the Lord, now is the time to repent and turn to Him. A marriage without Christ at the center is built on shifting sand, but a marriage founded on Him stands firm (Matthew 7:24-27). We pray that if either spouse is not saved, they would encounter the love of Jesus in a life-changing way. Romans 10:9 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* There is no greater need than salvation, and we plead for the Holy Spirit to draw them both into a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus.
We also pray for the little girl in this home. Children are deeply affected by the stability—or instability—of their parents’ marriage. We ask the Lord to shield her heart and mind from the turmoil and to surround her with His peace. We pray that her parents would model godly love, commitment, and faith for her, showing her what a Christ-centered home looks like.
Finally, we stand against the enemy’s schemes to destroy this family. We bind every spirit of division, despair, and deception in the name of Jesus, and we loose the power of the Holy Spirit to bring unity, hope, and truth. We declare that this marriage will not end in separation but in restoration, and that this family will testify of God’s faithfulness.
**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this marriage and family to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the brokenness, the pain, and the despair that has taken root in their hearts. We ask You to intervene mightily, Lord. Break every chain of bitterness, unforgiveness, and hopelessness that has bound them. Fill this husband with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remove from him any thought of harming himself, and replace it with the truth of Your love and purpose for his life.
Lord, we pray for this wife as well. Soften her heart, Lord, and give her the grace to forgive and the strength to love as You have loved her. Unite their hearts in You, Father, and help them to see each other through Your eyes. Restore what has been broken, Lord, and make their marriage a testimony of Your redeeming power.
We pray for their little girl, Lord. Protect her heart and mind from the effects of this strife. Let her see Your hand at work in her family, and draw her to Yourself even now. May she grow up in a home where Your love is evident, and may her parents raise her in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
Father, we ask for Your provision over this man’s business. Open doors that no man can shut, and provide for every need according to Your riches in glory. Let financial stress be removed as a point of contention, and let them trust in You as their Provider.
Most of all, Lord, we pray that both husband and wife would seek You with all their hearts. If they do not know You as their Savior, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. Draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which they can be saved (Acts 4:12). Let this trial drive them to their knees and into Your arms.
We stand against the enemy’s plans to destroy this family. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that You, Lord, will complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). Bring healing, restoration, and unity to this marriage, Father. Let them choose to fight for one another, to forgive as You have forgiven them, and to walk in obedience to Your Word.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness, and we believe that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory (Romans 8:28). In the precious and powerful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
