A Promise for Us and for Our Children
Do Not Sin Against the Child
The Lad’s Life
We have read your request and our hearts break with you in this deep grief over the death of your son. We are weeping with you and we are praying for you. To lose a child is an unimaginable sorrow and to feel that you cannot go on and that you are very weak is an honest and human response to such pain. We thank you for sharing this with us and for your love for your grandchildren and children that is keeping you here even when you do not want to go on. That love matters and your life matters deeply to God and to those who love you.

The Lord sees your broken heart and He is near to you right now. Psalm 34:18 says The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 56:8 says You count my wanderings. You put my tears into your bottle. Aren't they in your record. He knows every tear you have cried and He is not distant from your suffering. Even Jesus wept at the grave of His friend in John 11:35, so He understands the sting of death and the ache of grief.

We understand you feel very very weak and unable to continue. God does not expect you to be strong in your own strength in this valley. He promises to be your strength when you have none. Isaiah 40:29 says He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Psalm 61:2 says When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Matthew 11:28 says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. We pray you will let Him carry you moment by moment right now, one breath and one day at a time, and not try to carry this alone.

We also want to gently speak to the feeling of not wanting to go on anymore. That despair is understandable in such deep grief, but your life is precious to God and He still has purpose for you. The enemy would want you to believe there is no hope and no way forward, but God says something very different. Deuteronomy 31:8 says It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, neither be dismayed. Your grandchildren and children do need you and your love for them is a beautiful reflection of God's love, and God Himself needs and wants you to remain and to let Him heal you and use you still. We encourage you not to stay alone with these thoughts. Please reach out today to a trusted family member, pastor, counselor or doctor, and if you ever feel you may act on these feelings please reach out right away to someone near you or to emergency help or a crisis helpline in your area. You do not have to walk through this darkness alone and we urge you to let others come alongside you for support, prayer and practical help through grief counseling and community.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to share why His name is our only hope. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and comfort that endures beyond this life. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. When we turn to Jesus in faith, we receive forgiveness, eternal life, and the promise that death is not the end. Revelation 21:4 says He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more, neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. This is the hope we cling to for those who are in Christ, that we will see them again.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this precious grieving parent to You. Lord You see the depth of this wound from losing a son and the weakness and exhaustion and the thoughts of not wanting to go on. We ask You to draw near and wrap Your arms of comfort around this dear one. Heal the broken heart and bind up the wounds as only You can. Give rest to the heavily burdened and overwhelmed heart and lead this dear one to the Rock that is higher. Let Your grace be sufficient and Your power be made perfect in this weakness. Give strength for today and for tomorrow, breath by breath. Surround this dear one with loving family, with Your people, with wise counsel and help, and keep this dear one safe from harm. Remind this dear one how deeply loved and needed and valued they are by You and by their children and grandchildren. Speak hope where there is despair and life where there is death. And Lord, let this dear one know Jesus more deeply as Savior and Comforter, the one who bore our sorrows and who lives to intercede for us. We ask that You will carry this dear one through this valley and bring comfort and even joy again in Your time. We trust You with this son who has died and with this family who remains. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We will continue to pray for you. Please keep reaching out, keep talking to God honestly in prayer, keep letting your children and grandchildren and trusted believers love and support you, and seek ongoing help from a pastor or Christian counselor for grief. You are not forgotten. Psalm 23:4 says Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. He is with you in this valley and we are praying He will make His presence and His comfort very real to you in the days ahead.

We are so grieved to read what you are carrying after the death of your son. Thank you for reaching out and for being honest about how weak and overwhelmed you feel right now.

If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support from trained people, you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. You are not alone and help is available right now. If you can, please reach out today to one trusted person near you, a family member, pastor, counselor or doctor, and let them stay with you. You do not need to face these hours alone.

Losing a child is an immense loss, and it makes sense that you feel torn between deep sorrow and deep love for your grandchildren and children who still need you. Both feelings can be true at once. The love that keeps you here for them matters, and your own pain still needs care and attention.

When you feel this weak, please let others help carry the next steps with you. Alongside prayer, we encourage you to reach out soon to a doctor, counselor or pastor in person so you have ongoing support for your grief and safety.

Father in Jesus name, we lift this parent to You in their grief and weakness. Hold them close tonight, give them protection and strength for each moment, and surround them with caring people who will stay near and listen. Lead them to the help they need and remind them they are not alone. In Jesus name, amen.

Jesus loves you🙂

And he will love you forever, remember it.😁 Matthew 11:28 KJV, a very nice verse for you to read, Jesus himself said this
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Your grief is deep and your words carry the weight of a wound that only a parent who has lost a son can know. To feel that you cannot go on, to feel very weak, is not a strange thing in such an hour. It is the soul brought very low, even to the grave, and it is right to tell the Lord and His people plainly that you feel you have no strength left.

Do not think that this weakness shames you before God. The shame of our weakness is turned to glory when we see that all strength of every sort comes from Him. He is the glory of our strength, and when we have none of our own, He gives what we lack. You have said you are very weak, and the Lord would have you know that His strength is made perfect in weakness. You need not be strong in yourself to be kept by Him.

The Lord Jesus knows this sorrow to its depths. He His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, and that tree was the place of pain and shame. He died in extreme pain of body and with inward agonies we cannot lift the veil upon. He knows what it is to suffer and to die, and He knows what it is to lose and to mourn. By His stripes you were healed, not because your wounds are small, but because His wounds were great for you. Look to Him now not as one far off, but as one who has passed through death and lives to carry you.

We are wont to ascribe our sorrows to second causes, but it is better to see the Lord in everything, even in this. The Scripture says, the Lord killeth and maketh alive, He bringeth down to the grave and bringeth up. Many of the scholars in the college of affliction have learned this, that He brings down and then in mercy brings up again. You have been brought down very low. It is for you, though fainting and unable to do anything as of yourself, to swoon into the arms of the Saviour, to faint as a child faints into its father's arms, to lie buried for a little while in His grave until He lifts you.

You have also a tender reason to remain, and the Lord has set it before you. Your children and your grandchildren need you, and that need is not a burden laid upon you without grace to bear it. Let the nearness of this sorrow be as a spur to fresh though feeble action, not in your own power, but in waiting upon Him. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. This renewing comes not by striving alone, but by prayer, by laying hold upon the Invisible, by giving yourself up again to the Lord who bought you, setting both your strength and your weakness on one side and asking Him to use you and keep you day by day.

When the sentence of death is felt within, when trust in self is killed, then we are driven to rely upon our God who raises the dead. Unto God the Lord belong the escapes from death. He has kept you hitherto, and He can keep you still, one hour and one day at a time.

I entreat you, do not bear this alone. Make your weakness known to the Lord in continual prayer, and make it known also to faithful souls near you. Go to a trusted pastor, to family, to a godly friend, and tell them plainly how weak you feel and that you do not want to go on. If the heaviness grows, seek help without delay from those who can come beside you, and let your children and grandchildren and your church know your need so they may watch with you. The Lord often keeps us by the hands of His people.

There is a hope beyond this valley that does not make light of your present pain. For those who are in Christ, to die is to close the eyes on earth and open them in heaven, to be with the Lord. That hope does not take away the sting of parting now, but it tells us that death is not the end of love nor the end of life for those who trust Him. If your son trusted Christ, he is with Christ. If you trust Him, you shall be kept till you meet again where parting is no more. And until that day, your life, though sorrowful, is still in His hands and still has purpose in His eyes.

May the Lord be gracious to you and wait to be gracious. May He lift you from this faintness, give you breath by breath His own strength, and let you feel again that to live is not in your own hold upon Him, but in His hold upon you.

We will pray for you, that the Father who loves His Son and loves all who are members of His Son's body would uphold you now. O Lord, Thou who hast wounded and Thou who healest, look upon this sorrowing parent, very weak and weary. Bear this one in Thine own arms, renew strength as Thou hast promised, and keep this precious life for Thy glory and for the good of these children and grandchildren, until Thou shalt call home in Thine own time. Keep this soul trusting not in self but in Thee who raisest the dead, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
