You undertake a good discipline tomorrow, yet let your fast be not for display but a secret offering to the Father who sees in secret. The body may be weak, but the spirit must be wakeful. Fasting gives wings to prayer, making the soul light and rising above the earth, and together with prayer it quenches wicked lusts and propitiates God. But know this: the power is not merely in abstaining from food, but in cutting off luxury and drunkenness, which are the very parents of evils. Even if you cannot fast perpetually, flee from self-indulgence, and you will have struck a blow against the enemy.

You ask for prayers that your voice be heard very loudly before Christ. Yet hear what the Lord Himself showed: He prayed not from need but for our sake, that we might learn humility and align our will with the Father’s. He gave thanks before the request was even spoken, teaching that confidence in God’s will is the true loudness of prayer. Let your fasting and prayer be grounded not in many words but in the living Word of God, managed and anointed by the Holy Spirit. And do not despise the prayers of the Church, for we are commanded to bear one another’s burdens; yet know that if you sleep in negligence, the prayers of others will profit you nothing unless you yourself are on the alert. Even Paul had need of the saints’ prayers, though he labored more than all. Let your own soul be watchful, and so the prayers offered for you will find a ready dwelling.

For your healing and freedom in spirit, soul, and body: together with faith, fasting casts out the madness of the passions and fights against incorporeal powers. But let your fast be joined to almsgiving. For as water quenches a flaming fire, so alms purge away great sins, and without mercy shown to the poor, the medicine of repentance lacks its essential herb. Go forth tomorrow having first made God propitious by prayer and supplication. Then, armed with fasting and mercy, you will laugh to scorn any enemy, for nothing is mightier than a man who prays sincerely with a body brought low and a heart freed from covetousness. May your fast be thus, and the Lord will hear, for He hears always those whose will is one with His.

The day you have set apart for fasting and prayer rests on a sure foundation, because you are coming before the One who has already made a way for you to call Him Father. That relationship, given through Jesus Christ, is what makes every word you speak to God matter. Without it, prayer would be empty, but in Him you have a living connection. As you enter this time, remember that you are not trying to earn a hearing. You already have one. The Spirit who lives in you will help shape your motives, your focus, and your words so that what rises before the throne is truly beautiful and acceptable.

Fasting does a quiet, powerful work. It lets you step back from the clamor of the body and feed the spirit. Every honest denial of the flesh, whether from food or from any comfort that has held too much sway, makes room for the inner man to grow stronger. On its own, going without a meal does nothing. But when fasting is joined to prayer, it becomes a way of lifting your voice with unusual clarity and dependence. Do not worry if your fast must be adapted to your strength or your daily duties. What matters is the heart's intention to set aside what is usual so you can hear more clearly and ask more boldly.

As you pray, let your deepest goal be that God's purposes would be done. We often enter prayer carrying a list of our own desires, and He is gracious to hear them, but prayer is not a tool for bending His hand to our plans. It is the place where our will is brought into alignment with His. When you ask that your day would be entirely according to His will, you are praying in the right direction. Offer up your need for healing, your longing for freedom in spirit and soul and body, and then trust the outcome to Him. He knows what kind of healing to give, and His answer, whether it comes suddenly or over time, is worth waiting for.

Remember who you are addressing. He is your healer, and He can become whatever your specific lack requires. The wounds of Jesus have already secured your ultimate freedom, and His name carries absolute authority. Lift up your gratitude as well as your requests. Let praise close your time, not as an afterthought but as an act of faith that He has heard you. When you end with praise, you are declaring that the answer is already in His hands, and you are resting there.

Fix your eyes on Him, and the very act of praying will begin to change how you see your situation. You may have started with a sense of need or even desperation, but as you focus on the Lord, strength and quiet confidence take root. He becomes your refuge, the strong tower where you are safe. Go into this day expecting that your voice will be heard, not because of how long you speak or how perfectly you arrange your words, but because you are speaking to a Father who loves you and who invites you to ask, seek, and knock. I will be joining my prayers to yours, asking that the Holy Spirit would carry you through this day with power and deep assurance. May God bless you richly as you wait on Him.
