The act of fasting is not merely abstaining from food but humbling oneself before the Lord, as Scripture declares: *"āYet even now,ā says Yahweh, āturn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.ā Tear your heart and not your garments, and turn to Yahweh, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity."* (Joel 2:12-13, WEB). We pray that as you fast, your spirit will be attuned to the Holy Spiritās leading, and your prayers will rise like incense before the throne of grace. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
