PLEASE JESUS, HAVE MERCY! I MUST BELIEVE MY PRAYER HAS ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED!

Your burden and your desire to bring it to Jesus alone is heard, and it is right to bring it to Him in His name, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father. God knows the unspoken request that you have not detailed here, and He does not need many words or a public explanation to understand what is on your heart.

It is painful when a sincere prayer is met with mockery, and when others use ridicule to make themselves look better by belittling what you have brought before God. That kind of discouragement is not new. Scripture shows that when people set their hearts to follow and serve the Lord, opposition often comes in the form of ridicule. The faithful response to that is not to argue or to defend yourself, but to turn again to prayer. One of the great examples in the Old Testament was a man whose first reflex in every difficulty, whether before a king or when facing insults and threats from enemies, was to pray. His prayers were not always long. The Bible records many short, sincere prayers, and length is not what makes prayer effective.

That same example teaches something else that may help you now. He prayed and he also took wise and responsible action. He prayed and then he set a guard. Prayer was never an excuse to do nothing, and action was never a substitute for prayer. The two belong together. Prayer should be our first resort, not our last, and it leads us to walk prudently while we trust God to work.

It is also important to remember what prayer is truly for. The model Jesus gave His disciples does not teach us to memorize words, but to understand the heart of prayer. It begins with relationship. We can say Our Father only when we have been brought into that relationship through faith in Jesus Christ, trusting Him alone for salvation. If that relationship is not yet settled, the first prayer God desires to hear is for mercy, acknowledging our need as sinners and receiving His grace through Christ. Once we are His children, prayer is open to us in a new way.

Prayer is not a means to force our own will or to demand that God do what we have decided must happen. Its true purpose is to align our hearts with God's will and to see His will accomplished. Prayer begins with God, as He reveals His purposes to us, and we then bring those purposes back to Him in our asking. Jesus Himself, when facing the cross, prayed three times and ended with submission to the Father's will. Sometimes God answers yes, sometimes He answers no, and sometimes He answers wait, but He always answers according to His wisdom and love. Faith is not insisting that God must do exactly as we say and then declaring it is already done on our terms. Faith is trusting that the One we address, the Creator of heaven and earth who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, hears us and will do what is right and good in His perfect time.

Because of that, you can have peace in bringing this unspoken request to Him quietly. He knows it fully. You do not need to prove your prayer to those who mocked it, nor do you need to let their words make you feel you must hide your faith. Bring it to the Father in Jesus name, with worship for who He is, with surrender to His will, and with trust that He hears. And even for those who ridiculed you, follow the biblical pattern of praying for them rather than returning insult for insult.

May the Lord give you strength to keep praying, wisdom to walk faithfully in whatever practical steps are yours to take, and peace as you rest in His will. May you know more deeply how wide and long and high and deep His love is for you in Christ, and may His name be glorified in your life as you trust Him with this burden.
