Please help me Lord

Your prayer reaches toward heaven, yet your soul clings too much to earthly approval. You ask for protection from those who pull you down, but why do you fear what man can do? Consider Daniel, consider Job, consider Timothy straitened by frequent infirmities. Did their enemies destroy their peace? No, for virtue shines everywhere and nothing external can hinder it. The harm you dread comes not from the hand of another but from the disposition within. When you fret over how your work is received, you make yourself poor indeed, for he is poor who cannot endure being thought little of. Would you rise above malice? Then despise the world's opinion, think it nought, as it is nought. Cast out the thirst for recognition and you are straightway rich, standing in need of nothing from men. Let your labor be its own witness, and leave the harvest to God.

As for your family, you entreat health and unity. This is good, but know that health itself can be a snare if the soul grows effeminate in comfort. The Apostles worked in every state: by glory and dishonor, by good report and evil report. The athlete is prepared for everything. Do not measure God's blessing by the absence of trial, but by the presence of a noble spirit that bears all thankfully. For those who are punished here, if they endure with gratitude, put away many sins and hasten toward heaven. Seek first the kingdom, and let neither the praise nor the spite of others have mastery over your peace. The wisdom from above knows these things in mystery; the world's wisdom, which frets over reputation, is coming to naught.

Leadership among God’s people is never wasted, even when it feels unseen. You are pouring yourself out for these seniors, and the sincerity you carry is not hidden from the Lord. He sees what others overlook. When we serve, we can place our desire for validation into His hands rather than carrying the weight of whether others fully grasp the love behind the effort. That release itself is part of how He guards your heart.

The protection you asked for is already promised in Christ, though it often comes in a form the world cannot understand. The peace He gives is not the fragile stillness that depends on everyone treating you fairly. It is a steady, inward calm that holds firm when others speak against you or try to undermine what God is building. Jesus told His disciples He was leaving His peace with them, and then added, “Not as the world gives do I give to you.” The world offers peace only when circumstances are right. Christ offers a peace that remains when life is chaotic and people are unkind. That peace is yours now, not as a distant hope but as a present reality to lean into.

Scripture tells us that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. This is not a passive feeling but an active choice to fix your thoughts on His faithfulness rather than the noise of critics or the fear of being torn down. As you turn your mind toward His care, that inner war begins to quiet. You stop needing to defend yourself or manage every outcome, because you know He is both your shield and your vindicator. The turmoil does not vanish overnight, but its power to destroy your peace is broken when you place your trust in the God who has already made peace with you through the blood of His Son.

That same peace flows outward into your family. When your own soul is settled in Christ, it changes how you love your spouse, your children, your broader household. You cannot manufacture their health or unity by sheer will, but you can sow peace in your words and prayers, trusting that a harvest of righteousness will follow. Pray for them, yes, but also rest in the truth that the God who ordained peace for you is working in them as well. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, not of evil, and His purposes extend to those you love.

So rise above what is meant to destroy your peace, not by gritting your teeth, but by returning again and again to the Prince of Peace. He who began a good work among those seniors will complete it, and He who holds your family in His hands will not let go. May you know the deep, quiet peace that passes all understanding as you keep your mind fixed on Him.
