Please for my aunt

Elmieriordale

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my aunt who has just undergone an emergency surgery. I just lost my other aunt 2 months ago, this feels like a nightmare.

We lift your ### before the throne of grace with heavy but hopeful hearts, knowing the pain of loss still lingers fresh in your spirit. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He binds up their wounds (Psalm 34:18). We pray for complete healing in your ###’s body, that every cell would respond to the Great Physician’s touch. May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we ask You to strengthen the hands of the surgeons and medical team, that they would be instruments of Your healing power. Give wisdom to every decision made on her behalf, and let her recovery be swift and without complication. We also pray for your comfort to surround this family, Lord. The loss of your other ### is still so raw, we ask that You would pour out Your love like a balm over these grieving hearts. Remind them that You are the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

We rebuke fear and despair in the name of Jesus. The enemy would love to steal, kill, and destroy, but Christ came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that this is not the end of her story, Your mercies are new every morning, and Your faithfulness is great (Lamentations 3:22-23). We stand in agreement for restoration, for joy to return, and for Your glory to be revealed in this trial.

Lord, we also lift up the weight of anxiety this family carries. Help them to cast all their cares upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). May they find rest in Your promises and strength in Your presence. Surround them with believers who will uphold them in prayer and practical support. Let this season draw them closer to You, Father, and to one another.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who holds all things together by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). Amen.

We are so sorry you’re walking through this right now. Losing your other aunt only two months ago, and now facing this emergency surgery, would feel like a nightmare to anyone. Grief doesn’t follow a neat timeline, and when another sudden crisis hits before you’ve even caught your breath, it’s deeply disorienting. Please be gentle with yourself, the exhaustion and fear make perfect sense. You don’t have to be strong right now.

It might help to let a few trusted people around you know how heavy this feels. A brief text to a friend from church or a family member saying, “I’m struggling, please pray and just check in on me” can lift a little of the weight. Even if you can’t be with your aunt in person, staying connected to others who love her can steady you.

Father, we come to You with this dear aunt who just went through emergency surgery. Give her body rest and wisdom to her medical team; surround her with Your healing presence. Hold her close, and steady her family’s hearts. We also lift up this niece/nephew who is reeling from loss and fresh fear. Comfort them in the raw ache of missing one aunt while worrying fiercely for another. Wrap them in Your peace that goes deeper than circumstances. Remind them they are not alone, that You are with them in the hospital hallway, the sleepless night, the prayer on repeat. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Comfort ye, comfort ye, this aching soul who cries out in the night. The Lord has not forgotten your ###, nor has He forgotten you in this bitter hour. Two months ago death entered your family; now sickness has come again, and it seems a nightmare without waking. But hear the word of the Lord: "This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your Word has quickened me." The outward comfort is the promise of God, but the inward comfort is the quickening of the Spirit. You need more than a change in circumstance; you need the life of God to surge through your soul. The roundabout way is often the straight way with Him. He does not always lift the trial at once, but He quickens us, and so we are comforted.

You say this feels like a nightmare. Yet even in dreams of horror, the morning comes. Time is a wonderful healer, but faith is a better one. "You shall forget your misery, and remember it as waters that pass away." The day will dawn when this present terror fades like a flood that has spent its fury. But do not wait for time alone to do its slow work. Press this promise to your bosom and say, "This is my comfort." Not the comfort you hope to have tomorrow, but this which you may have now. The Word of God stands fast. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His very leaves are for healing. The least thing about Him drips with medicine for the soul. If you cannot grasp the great doctrines, lay hold of the hem of His garment. The smallest touch of faith draws virtue from Him.

Yet let me say plainly: comfort alone is not enough. Comfort must be married to constancy, or it becomes a soft bed for spiritual sloth. You are tempted now to despair, to question, to grow faint in the day of adversity. But remember, "God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." This affliction is not the destroyer you fear; it is a messenger with a peculiar comfort tucked within its dark coat. Seek that comfort not in mere relief, but in being established in every good word and work. Let this trial drive you to prayer. It was little prayer that brought you down; it is great prayer that will lift you up. Cry out, "My Father, will You not comfort my heart? My Father, will You let Your child despond?" He will not cast you out. You belong to His family, and the plea of adoption is mightier than the cry of your sorrow.

The anchor is cast overboard. You felt the slip in the night and started with fear, but the anchor is holding fast to the bedrock of Christ’s finished work. He died to redeem just such souls as yours. O you of little faith, why do you doubt? The bruised reed He will not break, and the smoking flax He will not quench. Your ### lies in the hands of the Great Physician. He is Master of every disease. And should the worst come, should death visit again, your soul will leap away from death into eternal life in a moment. That is solid comfort, not a dream. It is the substance of things hoped for. Take it now. Chew upon it. Let it change the lifeblood of your hope. The faces in heaven owe their freshness to these healing leaves. Look to the Tree of Life, and find your cure.
