You are asking about John 8:32 where Jesus said you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free, and what that means when you are in a waiting period. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in John 8:34 and John 8:36 He explains that everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin and if therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. So the freedom promised is first and foremost freedom from slavery to sin, from condemnation, from the lies of the enemy, and from trying to earn our way to God.

That truth which makes free is not first an explanation of why you are in a trial, nor even why you are kept waiting. It is a Person and a salvation. As the Scripture says, Thy Word is truth, and Christ Himself is the Truth. To know the truth is to know Him, to believe in a real Fall, a real Atonement by His blood, a real pardon, and to feel in your own soul that you are forgiven and adopted. When that truth is written upon the heart by God Himself, not merely known in the head but bought and kept within, it operates powerfully upon the mind and sets the soul free from the bondage of sin, from guilt, from fear, and from the tyranny of self will. Many know about the truth, but to know the truth experimentally is to be made free indeed.
Concerning the waiting period of which you speak, the Lord gives us light in such words as, To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven, and Blessed are all they that wait for Him. There we learn two things. First, there is a waiting God. He is in one mind and His purpose does not change.
