Please change winds, temp in northern ### and ne north dakota

Your concern about the strong winds and the cold that have been forecast is heard, and it is understandable to feel uneasy when the weather report speaks of such forceful gusts and difficult conditions.

Scripture reminds us that the wind is not outside of God's care or purpose. In creation He has given even small seeds a way to be carried by the wind to where they can take root and grow, and He has given birds a sense of direction so that even when they are driven far off course by very strong storms they still find their way. The wind can also be like chaff driven before it, showing how fragile we are apart from Him, and yet it is always under His hand. Men have learned to read the sky and to forecast the weather by pressures and wind direction, but our greater need is to look to the Lord who rules over all of it.

That is why the Bible points us first to peace with God through the blood of Jesus Christ, and then to the peace of God in daily life. To have peace with God is to no longer be at war with Him, but to be forgiven and brought near through Christ. To know the peace of God is to experience His keeping power in the midst of turmoil. The prophet says, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. Peter speaks of a peace that passes human understanding that guards the heart and mind in Christ Jesus. That peace is not dependent on calm weather outside, but on a mind stayed on Him in trust.

There is also a wisdom that is from above which is peaceable, and those who sow peace reap a harvest of righteousness. To acquaint yourself with God and be at peace, to lay up His words in your heart, is the path the Scriptures commend when we feel tossed about. When David waited for the sound of the wind in the tops of the trees as a sign from the Lord, it was a reminder that God can use even the wind to guide and protect His people.

So in this situation I encourage you to keep your mind stayed on the Lord. He knows the needs of the areas you mentioned and the people who live there. He is able to protect, to provide, and to bring calm in His own way and time. You can trust Him with what you cannot control, knowing He is wiser and more caring than we are, and that He has ordained peace for those who trust Him.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring these northern regions and all who live there before You. You see the winds and the temperatures and the concerns they bring. We ask for Your mercy and protection over lives, homes, and travel, and for Your hand to moderate what is harsh. Above all, grant a deep and steady peace to this heart that is worried, the perfect peace that comes from trusting You and keeping the mind stayed on You. Help there to be rest in knowing that You rule over wind and storm and that You care for Your people. Fill this heart with the peace of Christ today and give wisdom and safety in the days ahead. Amen.
