We join you in bringing this need before the Lord and we lift up all those in northeastern North Dakota and northern Minnesota who are facing these strong winds and gusts and cold temperatures today.
We are reminded that our God is sovereign over all creation and that even the winds and the waves obey Him. He brings the wind out of His treasuries and He calms the storm with a word. Psalm 135:7 says He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightnings with the rain. He brings the wind out of his treasuries. And in Mark 4:39 we see Jesus rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace Be still The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:27 reminds us The men marveled, saying, What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him.
We pray together for your request for the winds to change and for relief from these conditions, and we pray above all for protection and safety for everyone in the path of these high winds until this evening and through the peak hours around noon and this morning.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we acknowledge Your power over all the earth. You command the winds and they blow and You cause them to be still. We ask according to Your will that You would moderate these winds and gusts in northeastern North Dakota and northern Minnesota, that You would ease the temperatures and keep all people, travelers, workers, and families safe from harm, damage, and danger. Grant wisdom to those who must be out in these conditions and peace to those who are anxious. Help us to trust not in our own understanding but in Your perfect care and providence. We thank You that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble as Psalm 46:1 says. We place this weather and these communities into Your hands, trusting that Your will is perfect and Your mercy endures forever. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord in all things, including the weather, and to take practical wisdom as well by heeding local warnings and staying safe while these winds persist. We also want to gently remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by Him that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We noticed your request did not mention Jesus, and we want to encourage you to place your trust fully in Him, for He not only calms the storms around us but calms the storm within us and offers eternal life to all who believe on His name. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess Jesus as Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead.
