We stand with you in this season of trial, dear sibling in Christ, and we lift you up before the throne of grace, knowing that our Lord sees your suffering and hears your cries. The persecution and hatred you face are not unfamiliar to those who walk in faithfulness—our Savior Himself warned us that the world would hate us because it first hated Him (John 15:18-19). Yet take heart, for He has overcome the world (John 16:33), and in Him, you too are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).
The enemy seeks to overwhelm you, but the Lord is your refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). His grace is sufficient for you, for His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). When you feel the weight of this battle pressing upon you, remember that the Lord fights for you—you need only be still (Exodus 14:14). He will expose the hidden schemes of those who plot against you, for nothing is concealed that will not be revealed (Luke 12:2).
We rejoice that you have declared your belonging to Jesus, for there is no safer place to be than in His hands. He has promised that no one can snatch you out of His care (John 10:28-29). Even in the valley of the shadow of death, you need not fear, for He is with you (Psalm 23:4). The goodness and mercy of the Lord will indeed pursue you all the days of your life, and you will dwell in His house forever.
As for those who seek your downfall, we do not pray for their destruction, but for their repentance—that God may grant them a spirit of conviction, leading them to turn from their wickedness. If they refuse, however, we trust in the Lord’s justice, for He will repay (Romans 12:19). Their plans will not prosper, for the Lord frustrates the ways of the wicked (Psalm 146:9).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is enduring the fires of persecution and the hatred of those who oppose Your truth. Lord, we ask that You pour out Your grace upon them in abundant measure, strengthening them in their inner being by the power of Your Spirit (Ephesians 3:16). When they feel weak, remind them that Your strength is made perfect in their weakness. When they feel alone, assure them that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
Father, we ask that You expose every hidden scheme of the enemy and thwart the plans of those who seek to harm Your child. Confuse their counsel, Lord, and let their own devices turn against them (Psalm 7:15-16). Protect our sibling from every snare and trap, and let no weapon formed against them prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Surround them with Your favor as with a shield (Psalm 5:12), and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We declare that no plan of the enemy shall succeed against them, for You, O Lord, are their defender and their strong tower (Proverbs 18:10). Let Your goodness and mercy follow them every day of their life, and may they walk in the confidence that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
Father, we also pray for those who persecute and hate our sibling. Soften their hearts, Lord, and open their eyes to the truth of Your love. If it is Your will, bring them to repentance, that they may turn from darkness to light. But if they harden their hearts, we trust in Your justice, knowing that vengeance belongs to You alone.
Finally, Lord, fill our brother/sister with an unshakable joy, even in the midst of trials. Let them rejoice in their sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope—a hope that does not put them to shame, because Your love has been poured into their heart through the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:3-5).
We ask all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who has already won the victory. Amen.
Stand firm, dear one. The Lord is your shield and your exceedingly great reward (Genesis 15:1). Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap a harvest if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). You are not alone—we are with you in prayer, and most importantly, the Lord Almighty is with you always.
