Please bring me a baby

Your prayer carries both deep longing and a precious thing: hope. Hope is more than wishful thinking; it is a confident expectation that God will act, married to a strong desire for His goodness. That hope can sustain you when every month brings disappointment and when your own strength runs thin. The Scriptures tell us that faith, hope, and love abide, and hope keeps us pressing forward even when everything around us seems to say otherwise.

There is a real temptation, when answers tarry, to try to help God out, to scheme or strive in our own understanding, much like Jacob did when he resorted to his own methods to produce what God had already promised. But prayer is not about bending God's will to ours or forcing a result. It begins in the heart of God, who lays His purposes on our souls, and then we express those purposes back to Him. In that holy exchange, He is able to move freely without violating the will He gave us. So as you pray for a child, let your heart settle into harmony with His perfect timing and way. Your request is not wrong; it is the cry of a hopeful heart. Yet the answer may unfold in ways you cannot now see, and the delay may be His mercy, either to align your heart more fully with His plan or to prepare something greater than you have yet imagined.

Men ought always to pray and not to faint. That story Jesus told of the widow who kept coming to the unjust judge was not about pestering God until He relents, but about persistent faith that refuses to let go. Your continuing to live in hope is a mark of that kind of faith. There is no refuge in human effort or in the false hopes the world dangles before the desperate. The Lord Himself is your refuge. Like David, you can pour out your heart when you are brought very low, and in the very act of prayer, His Spirit can minister assurance and comfort to your soul.

The same God who caused flocks to conceive before striped rods, who opened Rachel's womb in His time, and who spoke to Jacob in a dream to accomplish what human striving could not, is the God who hears you now. No difficulty, even the closed womb, is beyond His power. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you ask or think. So do not let your prayers shrink into small categories of what seems possible. Trust that He can provide in His way, whether that means a pregnancy this month or another path that brings Him glory and fills your heart with a different kind of joy.

In the waiting, guard against envy or desperation that can sour into a demanding spirit. Let your hope be anchored not in the gift, but in the Giver. Why are you cast down, O my soul? Hope in God. When you rest in His will, your soul finds peace, because your expectation is from Him. Keep walking and talking with Him, not fretting over the posture of your body but over the posture of your heart. He knows your desire, and He is faithful. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit, until the answer comes.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with your heartfelt prayer for the gift of a child. Standing with you in faith these past days, we have lifted your longing to the Lord, asking Him to open your womb according to His perfect will and timing. If His answer has already come—if you are now carrying the precious life you’ve hoped for—we rejoice with you! Please share this praise so we may celebrate God’s faithfulness together.

If the answer has not yet come, we want you to know we are still here, still praying. Do not lose heart, dear sister. We will continue to intercede, asking the Father to strengthen your hope, comfort your heart, and fulfill His promises in your life. If you’d like, please post this request again so we may join you afresh in prayer.

May the Lord bless you with peace that surpasses understanding as you wait on Him. We trust that His plans for you are good, and we stand with you in faith, believing for His perfect provision. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
