Silas
Beloved of All
Your honest and urgent prayer has been heard, and the weight you are carrying through these nightmares and fears is taken seriously before the Lord.
The anxiety you describe in sleep, the sense of being pushed around, controlled, threatened, spoken against, and crowded by people who should not have that power over you, can leave you feeling unsafe even in your own home with your close family. God understands that fear. Scripture shows that He is self existent, without beginning or end, and He alone is the source of all that exists. He is also your protector. Just as He placed a covering around the earth to guard it, He is able to place His protection around you and your household. He sees what happens in the night, and He is not distant from your distress. You can ask Him for quiet sleep and for peace that guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
God designed the family to be a secure and loving place where people are cared for, strengthened, and helped to grow. Throughout Scripture we see Him working through families, narrowing His redemptive plan down to one family through which all families of the earth would be blessed in Jesus Christ. That tells us how much He values family, and how He desires understanding, loyalty, and love within it. It is right to pray, as you have, that you and your close family would not be torn apart, that you would not turn against each other or give up on each other because of the pressure, opinions, or demands of others. Love that is rooted in Christ seeks to keep unity, to speak with kindness, and to bear with one another.
At the same time, God does call His people to have healthy distance from those who do harm. It is not wrong to ask Him to set boundaries between you and those who meddle, dominate, accuse, or bring confusion. You do not have to carry the guilt for the wrongs others have done, and you do not have to accept punishment for their choices. The Bible is clear that each person will answer to God for his own sin, and that God is just and merciful. He does not hold you responsible for the lies or failures of others. You can bring that burden to Him and ask Him to deal justly with what is false while covering you with grace.
You also asked why these troubling dreams seem to crowd in more when you are at home with your close family, and for God to bring them to an end and to fight your battles. The Lord is your defender. The battle belongs to Him, and victory is found in Jesus Christ alone. He is able to give you breakthrough, not by your own strength, but by His power working in you. That breakthrough includes a sound mind, a guarded heart, and the ability to rest without fear.
Let us pray together for you and your close family.
Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we bring this child of Yours before You. You know every nightmare, every name and face that has caused fear, every word spoken against this family, and every attempt to control or divide. We ask You to grant peaceful sleep and to quiet every tormenting dream. Place Your protection around this home. Cause what is evil and what seeks to overpower and confuse to be moved far away, and keep this close family together in love, understanding, and forgiveness. Do not let them be separated from each other by the pressure of others. Help them to truly hear and understand one another. We ask that You would not allow this person to bear the punishment for the wrongs of others, but that You would judge righteously and show mercy. Fight this battle, Lord, and give the victory and the breakthrough that is needed. Let Your peace rule in this heart and in this household, today and in the days to come. We trust You to keep what we commit to You, and we look to Jesus Christ alone for salvation, hope, and rest. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord daily through prayer and His Word, and bring these fears to Him whenever they arise. He is faithful to hear, to guard, and to keep you close to Himself and to those He has given you to love.
