We hear the heaviness and fear in your heart after so many troubling nightmares and we join with you in prayer before our Father in Jesus' name, asking for His perfect peace and protection over you and your close family.

The fear of being grabbed and taken away from those you love and of ending up in places you do not want to be is very distressing, but we are reminded that fear and bad dreams do not come from God and do not determine your future. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. When we lie down, we can trust Him to keep us, for we read I will both lay myself down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8 and also When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet Proverbs 3:24. He is our refuge and fortress, and we can cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us 1 Peter 5:7. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

We also want to gently speak to a part of your request that needs correction in love. You have asked God to punish and to remove negativity by dealing harshly with those who have lied to you and wronged you, including those you named. We understand the hurt that causes such a prayer, but Scripture teaches us that vengeance belongs to the Lord and not to us. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. Instead we are called to love our enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. We can pray for God to bring conviction, correction and repentance to those who have lied and wronged you, that they would turn from wrongdoing and come to truth, and that God would establish healthy boundaries and distance where needed for your peace and safety, but we must release bitterness and the desire for personal revenge, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and many be defiled by it Hebrews 12:15. God is just and He sees every lie and every hurt, and He will deal with each person in His perfect righteousness and mercy.

We also understand your desire to never lose your close family and to be kept together. We share that desire with you and we know that no one can snatch those who belong to Christ out of His hand, for He gives eternal life and keeps His own John 10:28-29. We pray for God's hedge of protection around you and your household, that He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways Psalm 91:11 and that He will keep you from harm and from the schemes of those who would bother or trouble you. We pray too for your practical needs and for restoration, trusting that our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19 and that He is able to restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten Joel 2:25, including peaceful sleep and the good and wholesome dreams you desire, as well as provision according to His will.

We now pray together with you.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we thank You that we have access to Your throne of grace through Him alone. We lift up this dear one and their close family to You. Lord, we ask You to rebuke every spirit of fear and torment and every nightmare, and to cleanse their sleep. Cover their home with Your peace, let them lie down and sleep in safety, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We ask that You guard their minds and hearts with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and take away the distress these dreams have caused. We ask that You keep this family together in Your love and that no person, no scheme, and no unwanted influence would ever separate them. Place a hedge of protection around them and distance from them those who would bring harm, lies, noise, or negativity, taking them completely out of harmful focus and not allowing them to touch what You have entrusted to this family. Lord, for those who have lied and wronged them, we do not ask for revenge for our own sake, but we ask for Your justice tempered with mercy. Convict them, correct them, speak to their hearts, and bring them to repentance and truth, that they would lay their voices and attention off this family and go their own way in peace. Forgive us where we have held onto anger, and help this dear one to forgive as You have forgiven us. Restore, Father, what has been stolen, the peaceful nights, the joy, the provision and every good thing according to Your perfect will, and let Your victory be evident in their lives. Give them wisdom, calm, and trust to rest in You, and let them find victory over these situations not by their own strength but by Your power. We ask all this in the victorious and precious name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and salvation. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring every worry to the Lord before you sleep, to fill your mind with His Word and with prayer, and to trust that He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep Psalm 121:4. He hears you, He loves you and your family deeply, and He is your keeper.

We were so sorry to read how frightening these nights have been for you. Having that many nightmares about being grabbed and taken from your close family would leave anyone feeling shaken and on edge during the day, and we hear how much you want to feel safe and close to your family again.

Nightmares can feel like warnings about the future, but they are not a picture of what will happen. It makes sense you are longing for peace at night and for quiet from people who have hurt or worried you. We join you in bringing those very real needs for safety, rest, and peace in your home to the Lord.

When sleep has been broken for a while and fear stays high, it can help to talk it through with someone you trust. If the bad dreams continue and you are feeling worn down, we encourage you to share what you have been experiencing with a pastor or counselor and also with your medical provider, who can listen and help you sort out next steps for better rest, alongside prayer.

Father, we bring our friend and their close family before You. We ask You to guard their home with Your peace, to give them restful sleep and calm after fear, and to hold their family close in Your care. Give wisdom for each day and comfort that they are safe in Your hands. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your cry in the night has been heard and brought before the throne of grace, and we join you in seeking the Lord who alone gives rest unto our souls.

The terrors of dreams and the fear that follows them are a natural disease of our frail hearts, and the Lord knows how fear weakens and dishonors Him when we forget His power. Again and again in Scripture, by the lily beds of His Word, there peers out that sweet flower, Fear not. The Lord Himself says, Fear not, I am with thee. He has not left you to be carried away by the hands of men, nor to be lost in places you would not choose. He who piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth has not suffered His arm to be palsied, and He is faithful to His promises and faithful to His Son.

We do not pray as you have worded in every particular, for vengeance belongs to the Lord, and He calls His people not to seek punishment upon others but to seek their good. We cannot ask God to punish those who have wronged you in the spirit of retribution, but we do pray that He would speak truth where there have been lies, that He would convict where there has been falsehood, and that He would bring all, both you and those who have grieved you, to repentance and to the knowledge of Christ. If any have promised help and not given it, we ask the Lord to correct what is wrong and to work honesty and mercy in every heart.

We also cannot ask God to grant riches at our demand, for He gives not according to our coveting but according to His marvelous loving kindness. The least mercy from God is a miracle, and that He has not crushed us but redeemed our life from destruction is mercy beyond all price. We pray instead that He would supply your daily need according to His wisdom, teach you contentment in Christ, and keep you from the love of money which ensnares the soul. He has adopted His people into His own family and set upon them a crown of loving kindness and tender mercies, and that portion is better than thousands of gold and silver.

For your nightmares and your fear of losing those you love, we pray that the Lord would labour in you to cast out fear by perfect love. Fear has torment, but perfect love casts it out. We ask that He would keep you as the apple of His eye and hide you under the shadow of His wings, that He would deliver your soul from deep trouble and give you quiet sleep. We do not have promise that no hard providence will ever touch us, but we have this sure promise, that He will never forsake His work, that He will preserve from endless wrath and bring to endless glory all who are in Christ. To die forgiven, accepted in the Beloved, is not to be lost, but to depart unto the Father, and to live in Him is to be kept even when enemies speak proudly with their mouth.

Therefore we entreat you, turn not away from the one and only rest of your souls, but this day take His yoke upon you and learn of Him. Confess that you have sinned and come short, and lay hold upon the hope set before you in free, rich, sovereign mercy. It is of little use to wash only the outside or to seek only distance from troublesome people while dwelling far from the Father's house. The poor empty sinner must be plunged into Christ's fullness, and then there is glory to God both from the sinner's faith and from the Object of that faith.

Let us pray together.

O Lord, disappoint the designs of evil and cast down the power of darkness. Deliver this soul from fear and from the terror of the night. Let not dreams rule the heart, but let Christ rule. Grant peace to this family, keep them in Your hand, and let no one pluck them from it except as Your holy will permits for their good. Teach this dear one to forgive as You have forgiven, to bless those who have spoken falsely, and to seek their salvation rather than their harm. Take away the sting of sin which makes death and separation dreadful, and give the quietness of one who trusts in Jesus. Provide what is needed for this life, and above all give the unsearchable riches of Christ. Establish this family in love, guard their going out and coming in, and cause them to find victory not in the silencing of every voice against them, but in the triumph of the cross. We ask this not because we have claim upon You, but because it is Your habit to hear the supplications of Your people, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and was dead and behold is alive forevermore. Amen.
