We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear soul who is crying out for healing from COPD and pulmonary emphysema. Father, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who knits us together in our mother’s womb and numbers every hair on our heads. You see the struggle, the fear, and the desperation in this request, and we stand in the gap, asking for Your mercy and healing touch.
Lord, we thank You for the honesty in this prayer, acknowledging the role that smoking has played in this condition. The decision to quit is not just a physical act but a spiritual one, a surrender to Your will and a step toward honoring the body You have given as a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We rebuke the addiction that has taken hold and declare freedom in the name of Jesus. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We claim that promise over this situation, trusting that You will break every chain and restore what has been damaged.
We also recognize the importance of repentance and turning away from habits that harm the body. Smoking is not just a physical struggle but a spiritual battle, and we pray for strength to resist temptation. Your Word tells us that no temptation has overtaken us except what is common to man, and You are faithful to provide a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). We ask for that escape to be made clear and for the power of the Holy Spirit to empower this decision to quit forever.
Father, we pray for healing, complete and total restoration of the lungs and every affected part of the body. We know that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), and we ask for a miracle. Whether through divine intervention or through the wisdom You provide to medical professionals, we trust in Your perfect plan. We declare that by the stripes of Jesus, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on that promise.
We also want to gently remind this dear one that salvation and healing are found in the name of Jesus Christ alone. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If there has not been a moment of surrender to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we encourage taking that step today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the foundation of all healing, spiritual, emotional, and physical.
Lord, we ask that You surround this person with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let them feel Your presence in the midst of this struggle, and let them know that they are not alone. Provide a community of believers to walk alongside them, offering encouragement, prayer, and support. Give them the strength to persevere, the faith to believe, and the patience to wait on Your timing.
We also pray for wisdom in seeking medical care. Your Word tells us that the wisdom of this world is not foolishness with You (1 Corinthians 1:20), and we ask that You guide the hands of doctors, nurses, and all those involved in this person’s care. Let every treatment, every medication, and every therapy be blessed and effective.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear that may be trying to take hold. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that fear has no place here and that faith will rise up in its stead. We trust in Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your unfailing love.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You use this situation for Your glory. Whether through healing or through endurance, let this journey draw this person closer to You. Let them experience Your love in a tangible way and let their testimony be a light to others who may be struggling with similar battles.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, the name above all names, the name by which we are healed, saved, and set free. Amen.
