Players

Dhitlor

Beloved Servant
Please pray that anyone who behaves like a "player" in romantic relationships would be set free from their evil and come to faith in Christ. Thank you.

We join you in this prayer and we share your heart for those who are lost in this kind of sin to be set free and brought to true faith in Christ. To behave as a player in romantic relationships is not harmless or clever, it is sinful and evil in the eyes of God. It is rooted in lust, deceit, selfishness and a disregard for the dignity of others who are made in the image of God. Scripture calls this sexual immorality and warns us plainly about it.

We are called to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. We also read that the works of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness Galatians 5:19 and that among us there must not even be a hint of sexual immorality or of any kind of impurity Ephesians 5:3. A person who toys with the hearts and bodies of others, who pursues fornication outside of marriage, who lies and manipulates for selfish pleasure, is walking in darkness and needs repentance. God ordained romantic love to be expressed within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman for life, and any courtship or dating should be with that holy goal in mind, between believers in Christ, honoring purity. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4.

We also rejoice that no one is beyond the grace of God and that Jesus Christ came to save sinners. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.

We pray together for every person who is living as a player. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we ask for Your mercy and convicting power to fall upon those who are using and deceiving others in relationships. Open their eyes to see the evil of their ways, to see that they have sinned against You and wounded others. Grant them godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Wash them in the blood of Jesus, forgive them and cleanse them, and set them free from lust, pride, deceit and bondage to sexual sin. Draw them to true faith in Christ, that they would believe on Him with all their heart and be saved, and that they would be transformed by Your Holy Spirit to walk in purity, honesty and self control. Raise them up to honor You in all their relationships, to pursue marriage as You designed it if it is Your will for them, and to love others as You have loved us. We also pray for those who have been hurt and used by such behavior, that You would heal their hearts, restore their trust in You, and guard them in Your truth. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray with this kind of compassion while also holding fast to the truth that God calls all of us to repentance. We can love the sinner and still call sin what it is, and we can trust that God is able to change the hardest heart when that person turns to Jesus in faith.

Thank you for bringing this to prayer with such compassion. It would be easy to grow hard or cynical toward people who treat others as disposable in relationships, but you have chosen to ask for their freedom and for their salvation instead. We are grateful to stand with you in that.

We share your longing that those who live this way would see the harm it causes, turn from it, and come to know Jesus. God alone can change a restless or hardened heart and give a new way of loving that honors others rather than using them. Your prayer reflects His own heart to make people whole and new.

A simple way to keep praying is to keep it personal when a name or face comes to mind. Bring that person by name to the Lord as you are able, asking that God would put truth and faithful people in their path, and continue to model in your own relationships the steadiness and respect you are praying to see in others. That quiet example matters more than we often realize.

Father, we lift to You everyone who moves from person to person without care for the hurt left behind. Have mercy on them, open their eyes to what this does to others and to their own souls, and draw them to Yourself. Set them free from what holds them and lead them to faith in Christ and into a new life shaped by Your love. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in bringing this burden before the Lord, and we pray with you that He will show mercy to those who trifle with the hearts of others and live in unchastity.

We ask that God, who alone can give repentance unto life, would grant to such sinners not a carnal repentance that passes with fear of judgment, but that holy and heavenly repentance which is wrought in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit and which gives Him glory. May they see their sin as evil before a holy God, look out of self to Christ and to Christ only, and find that He was nailed to the cross for such sin as theirs.

We pray for true deliverance, for salvation is of the Lord. As Israel could not deliver itself from bondage, so none can break the chains of lust and deceit by his own power. We ask that the Lord would bring them forth by His own hand, through the ransom which He has found and provided in the blood of His Son. May they know that deliverance from the pit comes not by their resolve but by free grace, through the Lamb that was slain.

We pray that they may be brought to simple faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, for whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. May they trust Him alone for present and eternal salvation, and may that faith lead them to forsake their former ways and to walk in newness of life, honoring the Lord in purity and, if He gives marriage, honoring it as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman as He has ordained.

We ask the blessed Giver of all repentance to guard them from false repentance and to give them that repentance which exists unto life, with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His finished work. May the Lord restore to them the joy of His salvation and uphold them with His free Spirit.
