Players

We join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord and we thank you for your heart to see those who are lost in this kind of behavior set free. We agree that what is often called being a player in romantic relationships is not harmless or to be excused, it is evil and sinful before God and it causes deep wounds to others.

The player lifestyle is rooted in selfishness, deceit, and sexual immorality. It treats other people made in the image of God as objects for pleasure and validation rather than honoring them. Scripture is clear that this is sin. We are told to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. We are also taught that this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4. And we know that marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4. Sex before or outside of marriage is fornication and adultery, and the deeds of the flesh which include sexual immorality, uncleanness and lustfulness will not inherit the kingdom of God unless there is repentance. Galatians 5:19-21. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we believe that any romantic relationship, any courtship between a man and a woman, should be entered into with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer, not for selfish play or temporary gratification. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14.

Yet we also rejoice that you are praying for their salvation, because our God is mighty to save and to transform. There is no one so far gone that the blood of Jesus cannot cleanse and renew. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17. God has promised, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. We are glad you lifted this up in the name of Christ, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that anyone can be forgiven, delivered from bondage to sin, and made right with God.

We pray together now for every person trapped in this pattern.

Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ and we ask for your mercy upon those who are living as players, who are deceiving, using, and committing sexual immorality. Lord, open their eyes to see their sin as you see it, grant them godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and draw them to the cross. Forgive them through the blood of Jesus, cleanse them from all unrighteousness, and set them free from the lust of the flesh, the deceit and pride that drives this behavior. Give them a new heart and a new spirit, renew their minds, and teach them to flee sexual immorality and to walk in purity, honor and self control. Bring faithful believers across their path to share the gospel with truth and love, and bring them to true faith in Christ alone for salvation. For those who do come to faith, we ask that you would lead them into godly courtship that honors you and, in your will, into holy marriage between a man and a woman that reflects Christ and the church. Heal also those who have been hurt by this behavior, and guard our own hearts to walk in love and holiness before you. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray with this kind of compassion, yet without excusing the sin, asking the Lord to save many and to raise up a generation that honors marriage and keeps the bed undefiled. God desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:4.

We appreciate you bringing this before the Lord. It would be easy to feel hardened toward people who use others in romantic relationships, and your prayer for their freedom and salvation shows real Christlike compassion.

We are reminded that salvation is not just pardon but a making whole. God offers forgiveness and also a new direction, a changed heart that can learn to love faithfully instead of using others. For many who live this way the pattern becomes more entrenched over time, and willpower alone rarely brings lasting change. Only surrender to Christ can bring that deeper transformation of heart and habits.

We are grateful for your compassionate heart that wants to see them healed, not just stopped. Thank you for standing in the gap for them. We will keep joining you in asking God to open their eyes, to bring conviction that leads to turning, and to draw them to Himself.

Father, we lift to You every person caught in this way of living. Have mercy on them and bring them to Yourself. Set them free from the hold this has on them and give them a new heart that seeks You and learns to love others well. Draw them to faith in Christ and to wholeness in Him. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord and we join you in this prayer with a hearty amen.

It is right to pray that those who trifle with the hearts of others and walk in the way of the player, which is a way of selfishness and sin, should be delivered. Such conduct dishonors God and wounds souls, for the Lord has ordained that love between a man and a woman should be faithful and pure, and that intimacy should belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Outside of that covenant it is sin and needs not to be excused but to be repented of.

So we pray that God, who alone can give repentance unto life, would grant to such persons true repentance that gives Him glory. Not a mere regret that is forced by consequences, but a godly sorrow wrought by the Spirit which makes a person abhor his sin because of the love of Christ who was nailed to the cross for it, and which leads him to look out of self to Christ and to Christ only. Any repentance that keeps a sinner from believing in Christ needs itself to be repented of, but that repentance which weeps for sin and then leaps for joy at the thought that God has set forth Christ to be a propitiation is repentance that needs not to be repented of.

We pray that their eyes may be opened to see God's salvation, for God's salvation is not an it but a Him. Wherever a soul spiritually sees Jesus, there it sees salvation. We ask that they may trust themselves wholly and entirely into the hands of Christ, believing on Him whom God has laid in Zion as the foundation, for the Scripture says, whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. There is no other name by which we must be saved, and Christ's active obedience and His shed blood alone can make a robe of righteousness and provide remission of sins.

We pray for deliverance that is effectual and of free grace only. As Israel was brought forth when the lamb was slain, so may these souls be brought forth by supernatural power, born again from above, made free indeed by Christ, raised up to sit in heavenly places in Him, and kept by Him, for Christ will not lose the meanest member of His body. May the Lord restore to them, when they believe, the joy of His salvation, and may repentance live in them as long as faith lives, a sweet and abiding grace.

We will continue to pray with you that the Lord would be pleased to turn many from this empty and destructive path to Himself, that they might be forgiven, made chaste and sober and lovers of God, and that they might glorify Him in lives made new.

Thank you for bringing this burden before the church. We join you in prayer for all who are living as players in romantic relationships, using others for selfish pleasure and practicing deceit.

We pray that God in His mercy would bring each one to a true sense of their own sin. Our hope is that they would not remain in worldly sorrow which works death, but would experience godly sorrow which works repentance unto salvation. May they become humble, condemn their own sin, and long to seek their Redeemer and desire His forgiveness.

We know that God does not thrust away the fallen with despair. He desires their conversion that He might heal them, and He does all things for their salvation. There is forgiveness and cleansing through the one sacrifice of Christ, who by one offering has perfected forever those who are sanctified. Salvation is in Christ Jesus alone, and it is offered to all who turn to Him.

So we ask the Lord to set them free from this evil, to wash away the pollution of this way of life by repentance, by tears, by prayers, and to grant them new hearts. We pray that their repentance would be genuine and bear fruit, that they would turn from using others and from all sexual sin outside of God's design, and walk in purity. God has ordained that romantic love and sexual intimacy belong within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and true freedom is found in living according to His good design.

We pray that they would rest their hope not in themselves or in others, but in the lovingkindness of God, and that having been forgiven they would live lives that are pure and unstained, bringing forth fruits worthy of repentance for His glory.
