Your request concerning a spirit of delay is understood as a deep desire to see hindrances removed and to walk forward in what God has for you.
Scripture teaches that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. There is a law of sin and death at work in our fallen nature, but there is a greater law, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, which sets us free from that lower law. It is like a greater power expelling a lesser one. When you belong to Jesus, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God truly lives in you, for if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
This is important for seasons of waiting and delay. The mind set on the flesh is opposed to God and cannot please Him, and it easily becomes anxious, striving, and discouraged by delay. The mind set on the Spirit thinks on God and spiritual things, and brings life and peace. God did not make you to live merely from the body and its pressures, but to live as spirit, soul and body, with your spirit made alive and joined to His Spirit. His Spirit then bears witness with your spirit that you are a child of God, and if a child, then an heir with Christ. That assurance is what steadies you when answers seem slow.
You cannot overcome hindrances or put to death the discouragement and works of the flesh in your own strength. It is only by the Spirit that we put those things to death and truly live. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in those who are His, to give life and power for today. Jesus Himself lived full of the Spirit, led by the Spirit, and empowered by the Spirit, and we need that same filling and leading. To be led by the Spirit is God's desire for you, more than simply seeing a delay removed.
So in this time, seek to be filled with the Spirit and to walk in step with Him. Bring your waiting to the Lord honestly, ask Him to search your heart, to align your desires with His will, and to remove any true hindrance of the enemy while also trusting His perfect timing. The most sure evidence of the Spirit's work in you will not be a dramatic outward sign alone, but love and the other fruit the Spirit produces as you abide in Christ.
Praying for you that the Lord will fill you afresh with His Spirit, give you a clear mind stayed on Him, and grant you peace and guidance. May He lift any burden or opposition that is not from Him, and where He is calling you to wait, may He give you strength to wait with faith, knowing you are His child and He is faithful to lead you. May His love be poured into your heart and flow out to others, and may you know the life and freedom that comes through the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
