Piano lessons

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me as I have a piano lesson today. I really have lost all interest in taking these lessons for certain reasons (including grieving the loss of a loved one) even though I love music. I find the lessons to be so grueling and difficult to sit through now. Please pray for me as my mother wants me to keep taking them and I also want to keep supporting my piano teacher as she has lost students recently and is worried about it. Thank you.

We hear your heart, dear one, and we lift you up before the Lord with great compassion. Grief is a heavy burden to carry, and it can drain the joy from even the things we once loved. It’s clear that your heart is tender, not only toward your own sorrow but also toward your piano teacher’s struggles. This shows a beautiful spirit of kindness and consideration, even in your weariness.

First, we want to acknowledge the pain of loss. Scripture tells us that *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* (Psalm 34:18 WEB) The Lord sees your grief, and He collects every tear. We pray that He would comfort you in this season, that He would lift the weight of sorrow from your shoulders, and that He would restore your joy in the things that once brought you life—including music.

We also recognize the tension you feel between honoring your mother’s wishes and the exhaustion you’re experiencing. The Bible instructs us to *"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you."* (Exodus 20:12 WEB) Yet, even as we honor our parents, we must also bring our struggles before the Lord and seek His wisdom. Have you considered sharing your heart with your mother in a gentle and respectful way? Perhaps she doesn’t fully understand the depth of your grief or how it’s affecting you. The Lord may use this conversation to bring understanding and even a change of heart.

As for your piano teacher, your concern for her well-being is commendable. However, it’s important to remember that you are not responsible for her financial security or emotional state. That burden belongs to the Lord. While it’s kind to consider her, you must also guard your own heart and energy. The Bible reminds us, *"Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else."* (Galatians 6:4 WEB) You cannot pour from an empty cup, and it’s okay to prioritize your healing.

We also want to gently ask: Have you invited Jesus into this struggle? He is the only one who can truly carry your burdens and bring you peace. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to surrender this situation—and your grief—to Him in prayer. Jesus said, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."* (Matthew 11:28 WEB) Only He can give you the strength to endure or the wisdom to know if it’s time to step back from these lessons.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our dear sister who is carrying the weight of grief and weariness. Lord, You see her heart, and You know the depth of her sorrow. We ask that You would draw near to her, comfort her, and lift this heaviness from her spirit. Restore her joy in music and in life, Father. Give her wisdom as she navigates her relationship with her mother and her piano teacher. Help her to honor her mother while also honoring the limits of her own heart. Lord, if it is Your will for her to continue with these lessons, give her the strength and endurance to press on. But if it is time for her to step back, make that clear to her and to those around her.

We also pray for her piano teacher, Lord. You know her needs, and we trust that You will provide for her in ways that only You can. Release our sister from any guilt or obligation that isn’t Yours for her to carry.

Most of all, Father, we ask that You would meet her in this season. Let her feel Your presence, Your peace, and Your love. Help her to cast all her cares on You, for You care for her deeply. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can come before You. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, especially in the Psalms, where you’ll find raw honesty about grief and deep comfort in the Lord’s faithfulness. You are not alone in this, and we are standing with you in prayer. May the Lord give you clarity, peace, and renewed strength.

We're here with you today, dear friend, as you face this piano lesson with a heavy heart. We understand that it's not just about the lessons, but the grief that's making even the things you once loved feel like a chore. We want you to know that it's okay to feel this way, and it's okay to ask for help.

We're reminded of a verse that says, "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken." (Psalm 55:22 NIV) Today, we invite you to lay down the weight of your grief and the struggle of these lessons at Jesus' feet. He sees you, He knows your heart, and He wants to carry your burdens.

We also want to encourage you to have an open and honest conversation with your mother about how you're feeling. It's important to honor her wishes, but it's also crucial that she understands the depth of your grief and how it's affecting you. Remember, you're not being disrespectful by expressing your feelings; you're being honest and vulnerable.

As for your piano teacher, we want to assure you that God sees her too. He knows her needs, and He will provide for her in His own way and time. Your concern for her is commendable, but it's also important to take care of your own heart and energy. As Galatians 6:4 reminds us, "Each one should carry their own load."

Let's pray together:

Dear Jesus, we come to You today, carrying our ###'s heavy heart. Lord, You see her grief, You know her struggle. We ask that You would draw near to her, comfort her, and lift this weight from her shoulders. Give her the strength to endure these lessons if it's Your will, or the wisdom to know if it's time to step back. Help her to navigate her relationships with her mother and piano teacher with wisdom and grace. Most of all, Lord, meet her in this season. Let her feel Your presence, Your peace, and Your love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're here for you, friend. You're not alone in this.
