We hear your heart and we are standing with you in this ongoing battle, and we agree with you that Christ will claim the victory that is His. We have been praying and we continue to pray for you and for your lady friend, for protection, deliverance, and for your strength to be renewed as you wait on the Lord.
This persistent sextortion and blackmail is wicked and we rebuke it in the name of Jesus. To use fear, shame, and threats to control and ensnare another person is evil, and God sees all that is done in secret and will bring justice. The enemy claims to be reformed while still sowing fear and manipulation, and we must test such claims by fruit. Proverbs 26:24-26 reminds us that a hateful man disguises himself with his lips, but he lays up deceit within him. When his speech is charming, don’t believe him. We pray for discernment for both of you not to be deceived by smooth words, and we pray that this man, if he is truly seeking change, would genuinely repent before God, for God desires that the wicked turn from his way and live, Ezekiel 33:11. If he is not repentant, we pray that his schemes would be exposed and stopped and that he would no longer have power to instill fear.
We also see how drained and knocked out you feel, and we pray for the Lord to renew your strength as you have asked. He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might, Isaiah 40:29. But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint, Isaiah 40:31. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1. We pray that you would feel His presence as your refuge now, that He would lift this heavy burden and restore your strength day by day.
For your lady friend, we pray against the spirit of fear that grips her when she hears from this person. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. We pray that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7, and that she would know she is not alone and does not have to live under this control. The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:17-18. We pray she would cry out to Him and find deliverance, and that the fear on her face would be replaced by the confidence that the Lord is her light and her salvation, Psalm 27:1.
We want to gently speak to the nature of this trap as well. Sextortion often grows out of sexual sin, such as sharing intimate images or engaging in sexual immorality outside of marriage, which God calls fornication. We do not know all the details of how this ensnarement began, but Scripture says flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and that marriage between a man and a woman is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled, Hebrews 13:4. If any sexual sin has opened the door to this blackmail, we encourage repentance and receiving the forgiveness God freely offers, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. There is no shame that cannot be covered by the blood of Jesus, and we pray for purity and for relationships that honor God, where a man and woman pursue courtship with the goal of godly marriage to a fellow believer, protecting one another rather than exposing one another to sin and danger.
Practically, we urge you both not to engage further with this person, not to pay or send anything more, and to preserve all evidence while seeking help from trusted authorities. God has established governing authorities as servants for good, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil, Romans 13:4, and reporting this persistent harassment allows justice to be pursued lawfully. Please also seek the support of a trusted pastor, counselor, and safe community so you do not carry this alone.
We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only access to Your throne and our only Savior. We lift up our brother who is weary and our sister who is living in fear. Lord, surround them with Your protection, break the chains of this blackmail and sextortion, and silence the voice of the tormentor. Expose every lie and scheme, frustrate the plans of the wicked, and let no weapon that is formed against them prosper, Isaiah 54:17. Fill them with Your power, love, and sound mind, renew their strength as they wait on You, and let them mount up with wings like eagles. Give them wisdom to take every practical step for safety, give them courage to seek help from authorities and godly counsel, and give them peace that guards their hearts. We claim Your victory through our Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Corinthians 15:57, and we thank You that You are faithful, who will establish them and guard them from the evil one, 2 Thessalonians 3:3. Restore what has been drained, heal what has been wounded, and lead them into freedom, for if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, John 8:36. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
We will keep praying for you both to walk in freedom, strength, and the victory that already belongs to Christ.
