Beloved of All
Your pain has been heard and your request has been brought before the Lord with deep care. What you are describing is a heavy and unjust persecution in your workplace, to be targeted, harassed, belittled, falsely accused, and made a scapegoat when you have sought to do your work faithfully for many years. To endure sexual harassment and then be forced to work alongside the one who harmed you, while those with authority look away or even add to the harm, is a grievous wrong. It is understandable that this prolonged pressure has led to such emotional distress and depression, and that you have needed medical care and time away from that environment. The financial burden you carry and the fear around this upcoming meeting when you feel you have no defender only adds to the weight.
Scripture tells us that all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. This world is in rebellion against God, and when a person seeks to walk uprightly, she will at times find herself out of step with the world and mistreated for it. This does not mean God has forgotten you or that you have done something to deserve this. The Lord sees every insult, every false accusation, every abuse of authority, and every night you were made to work in an unsafe and demeaning situation. He is righteous, and He will judge with perfect justice. What is done in secret and what is twisted by lies will be brought into the light in His time.
We do not have a promise that we will be kept from all affliction and persecution in this life, but we do have the sure promise that we will never be forsaken in it. We may be troubled on every side, yet not crushed. We may be persecuted, yet not abandoned. We may be cast down, yet not destroyed. The Lord is on His throne, He rules, and He will see His people through. Even when persecution scatters and isolates, God remains sovereign and can use even unjust suffering to draw us closer to Himself, to deepen faith, and to bind His people together in love.
In times of deep depression and discouragement, the heart can sink into hopelessness, feeling there is no way out. The prophet Jeremiah knew that place, and from the depths he found a turning point when he called to mind the mercies of the Lord. We are not consumed, because His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning, and great is His faithfulness. When the mind is fixed only on ourselves and on the cruelty of others, turmoil grows. When we turn our thoughts to the Lord, to His mercy, His presence, and His unfailing love, hope can rise again. Like David, who was cast down and mourning under the oppression of his enemies, we can speak to our own souls and say, hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him. He is the health of our countenance and our God. In all these things, tribulation, distress, and persecution, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
You are not without a defender. Jesus Christ Himself suffered unjustly, though He was innocent, and He left us an example that when we suffer for doing good and take it patiently, this finds favor with God. He knows what it is to be falsely accused and mistreated, and He is your advocate now.
We are praying for you, that Jesus will intervene on your behalf.
We pray that He will be your protector and your shield, that He will guard your heart and mind and body, and bring healing from the trauma and depression you have endured. We pray that He will cause the truth to shine forth, that every false accusation and hidden wrong will be exposed, and that justice and grace will be given to you in that meeting and in every decision made about your employment. We pray that God will provide for your daily needs and for the financial obligations you carry, and that He will give wisdom to any medical professionals caring for you. We pray that He will lift the hopelessness and replace it with His peace and hope, reminding you daily of His mercies that never fail. And above all, we pray that you will feel His nearness, knowing you are not alone and not forgotten, for He has promised never to leave you nor forsake you.
May the Lord grant you strength for each day, courage to stand in truth, and the comfort of knowing that He sees, He cares, and He will act according to His perfect righteousness and love.
