Humble Prayer Partner
1) a girl who is a Christian who has backslidden from the faith. I don't know the whole story, but for some reason she won't reach out to me, perhaps because she doesn't know how to, as we haven't seen each other for a long while & we don't know each other all that much. I can relate to her in wanting to talk about Jesus to people, whether at church or unbelievers, but unfortunately for the both of us, at 2 separate churches, God isn't talked about all too much, mine is outside of the service, people don't really talk about Jesus, but the way the person put it, it sounded like her church never talks about God even in the service, so I'm not sure about that. But what was supposed to be a Bible study group was just on what is the Bible & stuff like that, which didn't interest her as she wants to talk about Jesus. I'm not full on sure whether she has full on gone from the faith or not, but she won't reach out to me, even though her friend recommended her to. She doesn't leave the house all too much & says she has no friends, so she really needs prayer right now. She lives with her mum who is an unbeliever & they argue a whole bunch. Also, she saw a fortune teller, as that lady came up to her & her mum in an alleyway, & I think it was her mum that told her to do it, so she did. But, I'm not sure if she knows that she shouldn't be talking to a fortune teller, but I have no way of telling her 2) the girl above is friends with someone who also talks to mediums, or at least once, & she is a catholic, but not too sure if she's a practicing catholic, as she doesn't talk about it much, it more seems that her relationship with God is not between her & God, but more so based off the what her mum had with God, as her mum who passed away a long while ago was a Christian (probs catholic). She has 2 kids & lives with them & her husband & her dad, which she doesn't have the best relationship with. She bragged that she has done all the sacraments, so I think she believes she's saved by her works rather than grace. I personally don't see her bearing the fruit of the Spirit. She has had a row with one of her neighbours, so wants to take some sort of revenge. She doesn't go to church. I find that her youngest son tends to talk to me more about Jesus than her, maybe he doesn't know how to ask her, I'm not sure if they have really talked much about Jesus together, as I dont live with them. But, he tends to ask me the hard questions & only Jesus through me is able to answer them & I think he is pleased with the answers that God gives him through me, as he has that face of "I understand, now I get it". But, her oldest son doesn't believe, but God speaking through me has shared the gospel with them both. She has a lot of anger, which she uses to shout at any of her family members or even the dog. She gossips a lot because she loves to. She judges & complains & all sorts, which is only what I have witnessed, while I sit there doing Bible study & my mum chats to her, also gossiping & complaining, but my mum is an unbeliever. 3) the youngest son of the woman above. He has a lot of anger too, which he tends to take out on gaming. He plays video games all day I think. He watches YouTube shorts & such, pretty much like my brother who isn't a believer. The youngest son has a Bible & a cross necklace, but I haven't heard much about it, I always have to bring up Jesus rather than him, as that conversation doesn't seem to happen otherwise. He doesn't go to church, but did say about it a while ago. I'm not sure what's stopping him, maybe the fact that his mum doesn't wanna go or it's more of her choice of which one they go to. He's only started secondary last year or so, so he's more dependent on his mum of course. He swears a lot, is kinda racist, has a definite phone addiction or just to screens in general. He did tell me that he shared the gospel with one of his friends at school, which I loved to hear. He struggles with going school, but he likes school, so not too sure why he tends to pretend to be sick to get out of it or he actually is quite a fair bit. He said he feels bad about not going, but still does it anyway. He struggles a bit with writing or the learning. Not too sure about bullies though. He does have insecurities though, hence why he wouldn't take off his hoodie in the summer, perhaps other people's comments got to him, whether it was family or people at school I'm not too sure, but his brother does tease him, so perhaps it's that, but his brother is autistic & doesn't really know when to stop. 4) the oldest son. He doesn't believe in Jesus. When I brought up the conversation of what his belief system is, he said it's the greek mythology of there being gods for everything. He does know quite a fair bit about what Jesus did, as do many in the west, & with the help of the Holy Spirit speaking through me, he was able to learn more. He is on his iPad pretty much all day & talks to people online, not sure if they're strangers or not, but he does tend to hide away who he's talking to. I wouldn't say he's angry, but as a result of the people in his home, is probably why he's so quick to seek revenge or complain or even try & get in with the gossip. He has autism. 5) the dad of the woman. He lives with them, is half deaf, & complains a bunch, but doesn't speak much, or at least that I see. But maybe because people don't really understand him as of his thick Spanish accent. He seems to have pain a lot, hence why he complains, or because of the boys shouting or something like that. I think he is a catholic, as he has a plate with Jesus on it & with a cross, but I haven't heard anything from him about his faith, but him & I haven't exactly talked before. 6) the husband of the woman. He works a lot, or goes to the pub, so I don't see much of him, but I think that's to give my mum & his wife space to talk & for the boys to hang out together. But, it doesn't seem that he's at home much even when we don't go to their house. He says he's not an alcoholic, as he doesn't tend to drink at home, but at the pub he will. He likes to join in a little with the gossip & he complains sometimes or judges. He seems to be tired a lot of the time, as he works quite a lot. He doesn't believe in Jesus 7) the youngest sons friend. Jesus speaking through me was able to spread the gospel to him, which led the youngest son to join in the conversation or to listen in on what I was saying. It's like God draws him in, as it's happened more than once & as an introvert, it's hard for me to talk to anyone, let alone about Jesus, & let alone to his friend who I have legit never actually talked to before. His friend doesn't believe in Jesus. He has quite a hard home life, as he has to share a room with his sister & because of that they argue a lot & his dad isnt really around, but when he is, it doesn't mean he sees him too much. The dad doesn't really talk to any of them, nor the wife. He isn't at home, as he's on holiday & they don't know when he'll be back as he didn't say anything. I'm not sure on the dad, whether or not he believes, but whether or not he does, I am not seeing the fruit of the Spirit based on what I hear about him. The wife, I only recently found out that she was somewhat catholic. I say that because I don't see her bearing the fruit of the Spirit & she said she hasn't been to a confession for a long time, so that kinda tells me it's lacking perhaps. The daughter, I don't think she believes in Jesus, but she did say she likes stain glassed windows at churches, which I do too, but that doesn't speak on what her beliefs are. The boy struggles with school, not too sure on his sister though. But, he gets bullied, I know that. 8) my mum & my brother. They are both unbelievers. I have spread the gospel to both of them a long while ago, & every so often perhaps, I do say something about Jesus or the Bible. My brother believes in evolution & my mum is on the fence as to whether God exists or not, but the point still stands, they haven't seeked, so they haven't found. My mum said that she only believe it when she sees it, & that's in regards to God healing her, as I mentioned that once, but when I offered to pray for her right then & there, she put it off. My brother walked away when healing was mentioned. My brother is angry & struggles with school, hygiene, sleep. He is on his screens all day in a dark room for the majority. My mum is watching TV all day or on her phone, unless she's at work or cleaning or cooking dinner. We do go for days out, so this is not to say that this is an everyday thing, but when at home, this tends to be the thing. I have said for them both to get a hobby, but nothing has changed. My mum has had problems with her tonsils a few times, has a problem with her leg, has back pain or hip pain sometimes. My brother sometimes has back pain. I have back pain always & leg pain most of the time. Thank you to anyone who replies or prays for these. God bless you

We have read your burden for these precious souls and we join with you in bringing them before the throne of grace in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that anyone can be saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And as it is written in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We thank God for your heart to intercede and to speak the gospel even as an introvert, for God uses our weakness to show His strength.

We lift up the young Christian woman who has grown cold in her faith. We understand your concern that she feels isolated, without friends, living with her unbelieving mother in strife, and not being fed in her church. We know how discouraging it is when the fellowship does not speak of Jesus. Scripture warns in 2 Timothy 4:3 that a time will come when people will not endure sound doctrine, and we are exhorted in Hebrews 10:25 not to forsake assembling together. We pray God will draw her back, for James 5:19-20 tells us that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death. We pray the Lord will stir her heart to seek Him and to reach out, and that He will provide her a true Bible believing fellowship where Christ is preached. We also must lovingly rebuke what happened with the fortune teller. God is very clear that we are not to seek guidance from fortune tellers, mediums, or spiritists. As it is written in Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh. And in Leviticus 19:31 Do not turn to those who are mediums, nor to the wizards. Do not seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Yahweh your God. We pray she will repent of this and turn to Jesus for all wisdom and comfort, and that you will yet have opportunity to lovingly share this truth with her. We ask God to heal the contention in her home and to give her peace and a hunger for His Word.

We bring before the Lord her friend who consults mediums and who trusts in sacraments for salvation. We must gently but firmly say that no one is saved by works or by completing religious rituals. Salvation is by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 says for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. Her hope cannot rest in what her mother believed or in sacraments she has completed, but must be her own living faith in the risen Christ, confessing her sin and trusting Him alone. We also rebuke the consulting of mediums as we did above, for in Isaiah 8:19 we are told Should not a people consult their God, Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living. We pray God will open her eyes to see that she needs a personal relationship with Jesus. We also pray for her anger, her desire for revenge, her gossip, judging and complaining. Romans 12:19 says Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. And Ephesians 4:31-32 calls us to Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. We pray she will see the fruit of the Spirit described in Galatians 5:22-23 and hunger for that transformation, and that she will turn to Christ and begin to walk with Him and take her children to a church where the gospel is faithfully taught. We pray for her marriage, which God ordained as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, that it would be strengthened and honored as Hebrews 13:4 teaches Let marriage be held in honor among all.

We pray for her youngest son. We rejoice that he has asked you hard questions about Jesus and that God has given you answers that helped him understand, and that he even shared the gospel with a friend at school. That is beautiful fruit. Yet we see his struggles with anger, with swearing, with screen and phone addiction, with hiding in hoodies from insecurity, and with dishonesty about school. We pray God will deliver him from anger and help him put away foul speech, for Ephesians 4:29 says Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. And Colossians 3:8 says but now you also put them all away, anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language, out of your mouth. We pray God will free him from being mastered by screens and help him redeem the time as Ephesians 5:16 says redeeming the time, because the days are evil. We pray for his insecurities and that he will find his identity in Christ, for Psalm 139:14 says I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. We pray God will help him with his learning difficulties and his desire to avoid school, and give him courage, honesty, and joy. We pray he will desire fellowship and the Word, and that his mother will be moved to bring him to church.

We pray for the oldest son who says he believes in Greek mythology and does not believe in Jesus, though he knows some of the gospel you have shared. We pray God will reveal Himself as the one true God and that the idols of mythology will be shown empty. We pray for his time spent isolated on his iPad talking to people online and hiding it, and for the influences in his home that push him toward gossip and revenge. We pray God will protect him, especially as one with autism who may not always discern boundaries or when to stop, and that God will give him clarity, peace, and a mind to understand the truth of Christ. We pray the Holy Spirit will continue to work through your witness to him.

We pray for the grandfather who lives with them, half deaf, in pain, complaining often, and who seems lonely and unheard because of his accent. We pray for his physical healing and comfort, and for his soul. If his faith is only in a plate with an image, we pray he will know the living Christ and not a symbol. We pray someone will reach him with the gospel clearly and patiently.

We pray for the husband and father who works so much and spends time at the pub, who says he is not an alcoholic because he does not drink at home, yet drinks at the pub, and who is often tired and joins in gossip and complaining, and who does not believe in Jesus. We pray God will convict him of his need for Christ and deliver him from any bondage to alcohol and to weariness without hope. We pray God will draw him to salvation and to love his wife and children as Christ loves the church, and that his marriage will be a testimony of God's grace.

We pray for the youngest son's friend who has heard the gospel through you and whose friend listened in. We thank God for drawing him even when you felt unable to speak. We pray for his hard home life, sharing a room with his sister in strife, his absent and distant father, his mother who is nominally Catholic but not walking in the fruit of the Spirit and has not been to confession in a long time, and his sister who does not yet believe. We pray God will protect this boy from bullying and from discouragement in school, and that the seed of the gospel sown in his heart will take root. We pray for his whole family to be saved by grace and not by tradition.

We pray for your own mother and brother who are unbelievers. We grieve with you that your mother says she will only believe when she sees God heal her, yet put off prayer when you offered, and that your brother walked away and clings to evolution. Faith comes not by sight but by hearing the Word. Romans 10:17 says So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. And Hebrews 11:1 says Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen. Jesus told Thomas in John 20:29 Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed. We pray God will soften their hearts and open their eyes to creation itself, for Romans 1:20 says For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. We pray for your brother's anger, his struggles with school, hygiene, sleep, and living in a dark room on screens all day, and for your mother's constant TV and phone use, and for the physical pains you all carry, your mother's tonsils, leg, back and hip pain, your brother's back pain, and your own constant back pain and leg pain. We pray for healing according to James 5:14-15 Is any among you sick, Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. We pray they will yet seek and find, for Matthew 7:7 says Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. We pray you will keep shining the light of Christ in your home with patience and love, not growing weary in doing good.

Father, we lift all these precious people to You together. We ask You to have mercy, to convict of sin, to reveal Jesus as the only Savior, to deliver from divination and works righteousness, from anger, gossip, revenge, swearing, and addiction to screens, and to heal bodies and homes. We ask You to draw each one to repentance and faith, to provide true churches where Your Word is preached, and to use our dear intercessor as a faithful witness, giving courage and words in season. We cast all our anxiety on You because You care for us as 1 Peter 5:7 says. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our hope, amen.

We can feel the weight you are carrying as you pray for so many people by name. Thank you for loving them enough to bring each story to God, especially the young woman you mentioned first who feels alone, without friends and distant from church. It makes sense you would feel unsure how to reach her when you have not been in close contact.

We encourage you to keep it simple and gentle. A brief message just to let her know you are thinking of her and praying for her, with no pressure to reply, can be a kindness that leaves the door open. God can use even a small act of care. And for the boys who are asking you hard questions, your willingness to listen and answer as you are able is already meaningful to them.

We noticed you mentioned ongoing back and leg pain for yourself and health struggles for your mum and brother. Alongside prayer, we encourage you to have those checked with your doctor or clinic if you have not already, so you can get proper support.

Father, in Jesus name we lift these eight households to you. We ask for your comfort for the young woman who feels isolated, for peace in homes where there is arguing and anger, for wisdom for the boys as they grow, and for healing and strength for families who are tired and hurting. Guide our friend with wisdom to know how to love each person well and keep them close to you. Amen.

Praying for your request and you

Psalm 100:4
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and his name.
Mathew 5:44
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you
1 Peter 4:8

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
Luke 10:27

He answered, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.
Mathew 7:1-3

7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Isaiah 54:17a
No weapon formed against you shall prosper
Mathew 18:20
20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

You have brought a heavy burden before the Lord, and it is well that you have done so, for we are commanded to bear one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. When you have prayed for yourself, do not end your supplication, but bow your shoulder also for others, and the Lord who hears in secret will not despise such intercession.

There is laid upon your heart first a young woman who has grown cold and turned aside from the ways of Christ. It is a great ill to have a broken heart or a wandering heart, and there is no way of bringing back the wandering sheep like that which the good shepherd takes when he lifts the poor creature upon his own shoulders, for it is too weary to return alone. We will pray that the Lord will carry her all the way back to himself, that he will heal her wounded spirit, for he healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. Pray that he will give her true fellowship, not the empty talk of a place where Christ is scarcely named, but fellowship with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ, where his word is opened and his name is loved. And pray that she may be delivered from that snare of seeking unto fortune tellers. The Lord forbids his people to seek such counsel, for they are lying vanities, and those who regard them forsake their own mercy. May she be shown that she need not go to the dark alley for an answer, but may go boldly to the throne of grace, and may she be brought to repent and to seek the Lord while he may be found, confessing that Christ alone is sufficient.

For the second soul, who trusts in sacraments and in works done, and who has at times sought unto mediums, we must pray with great earnestness that she may see that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by grace and not of works, lest any man should boast. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and that healing is in Christ crucified, not in any rite performed by our own hands. To seek the dead on behalf of the living is forbidden and grievous to God. May the Lord show her the folly and sin of it, and turn her heart to seek the living Christ. Pray also that the anger, the gossip, the judging and complaining, and the desire for revenge upon a neighbour, may be seen for what they are, fruits of the flesh, and that she may be given a new heart that brings forth the fruit of the Spirit. Pray that she may be drawn to hear the gospel faithfully preached and to walk in it, for a lifeless religion is a dishonor to God, and the better a profession has been, the more need there is that the presence of God be truly there.

For the younger son, who has some light and some desire toward Christ, who asks hard questions and once shared the gospel with a friend, we will give thanks that the Lord has put any spark there, and pray that it may be kindled into a steady flame. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth, to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn of him early. Pray that he may be delivered from anger and from the bondage of screens and idle shorts that consume his hours, from swearing and unkind speech, and from the heaviness that keeps him from school. May the Lord give him strength to bear his own burden in a faithful walk, to take up his cross and follow Christ even when his house does not follow, and to find a place of true Christian fellowship where he can be taught and encouraged. Pray that his Bible and his profession may become a living faith, not a form only.

For the elder son, who says he holds to the myths of the Greeks and hides his company, we pray that the Lord will show him that these are no gods at all, but vanities, and that Jesus died for sinners and lives again to plead for such as he. That sin can be forgiven, for Jesus died for sinners, that heart can be renewed by grace, for Jesus lives again. May the Holy Spirit open his eyes to see that he has been taught something of Christ already, and may that knowledge be carried from the head to the heart. Pray that he may be kept from secret snares online and from the spirit of revenge and complaint that surrounds him, and that the Lord will have mercy upon him in his affliction.

For the aged grandfather, half deaf and full of pain and complaint, and for the husband who labors hard and lingers at the pub and says he is not bound by drink, we pray that the Lord will visit them in mercy. Whether a man has a cross upon his wall or upon his neck, it will not save him unless Christ be in his heart. Pray that they may be brought from form to substance, from weariness and murmuring to rest in Christ, who alone can give healing and pardon together. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy he said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee, showing that pardon and healing are one in his hand. May they hear that word.

For the friend of the younger son and for that whole household, where the father is absent and silent, the mother has not drawn near to confession for a long time, and the children are tossed and bullied and divided, we pray that the Lord will be a Father to the fatherless and a home to the homeless in heart. Pray that the boy who has heard the gospel through your lips may remember it in his trial at school, and that his sister who admires the windows of a church may be brought to love the Christ who is the light that those windows signify. Pray that the whole family may be turned from trusting in anything but Christ to trusting in him alone.

For your own mother and brother, who are yet unbelievers, the one halting between opinions and saying she will believe when she sees, the other holding to evolution and turning away when healing is named, we pray that the Lord will show them that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God, not by sight alone, and that the heavens declare his glory and yet men need the new birth to see it. Pray that their hearts, now given to screens and to slumber in dark rooms, may be awakened, that anger and sloth may be subdued, and that bodily infirmities, the pain in the back and legs, the trouble of tonsils and hips, may be means in the Lord's hand to make them seek the great Physician. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they urge us to seek a physician, but the bleeding spirit cries louder for consolation, and Christ has healing in his wings for both.

And for yourself, who bears pain continually and yet bears the burden of so many souls, take comfort that every man shall bear his own burden before God, and yet we also bear one another's burdens in love and prayer. Do not sit upon your burden and fret, but bear it in personal effort and in much prayer, and look to Christ to bear you when you are too weak to walk. Continue to speak the gospel as God gives you utterance, though you count yourself an introvert, for there is not a poor intercessor who is not of use to the church, and the Lord is pleased with a child's love and with the quiet testimony of one who sits at his feet.

May the Lord hear this many stranded prayer, forgive what is amiss in us all, and bring each of these dear ones to know that our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ, and that to be found in him is life and healing and peace.
